How to get Anomalous Bulk Scan Data?

So I am having trobule finding that material. No matter how many transports I scan at the station, I just dont get it. Isnt this supposed to be a very common material?
Please guys if you have a good technique getting these very common rather very rare mats tell me.

It would appear that it has no known use so you don't need it.

Data

Rejoice, for there is much that can be discarded. The data that have no known use are:

  • Abnormal Compact Emission Data
  • Adaptive Encryptors Capture
  • Anomalous Bulk Scan Data
  • Classified Scan Databanks
  • Classified Scan Fragment
  • Classified Shield Databanks
  • Datamined Wake Exceptions
  • Divergent Scan Data
  • Exceptional Scrambled Emission Data
  • Peculiar Shield Frequency Data
  • Unidentified Scan Archives

According to the components list on Inara it's used for grade 3 power distributors and FSD interdictors.

I've thrown away hundreds of these. Just scan other ships in supercruise, you'll find them very quickly.

As a general rule, you always want to target and scan ships ahead of you in supercruise while flying to your destination. It's by far the easiest material collection you'll ever do.

That list is out of date due to the rework of blueprints.

Good to know. Thanks Commander. I have been tossing these items and/or skipping missions with them as rewards. Maybe I should rethink that policy.

Do you by chance know of an updated list?

Okay I cant seem to get this sh*t. Goddamn it. And no Im NOT at data capacity. Very common my *ss.

Pretty sure I first encounted Anomalous Bulk Scan Data when scanning a moon.

I didn't know what it was - just saw a different message flash up in the RHP. I posted a query about it on these forums at the time.

Anoomalous Bulk Scan Data you get when you scan Type-7's, Type-9's and I think Type-6's. You don't need a special scanner for it - you just highlight the ships in either super cruise or normal space and let the scan cycle complete. You don't get 1 absd per scan - you need to keep scanning frighter type ships and collect the ABSD over time.

Well Im not getting a single one after 20 scans or more. Should I do the lottery? :(

I would definitely have a rethink; datamined wake exceptions are on that list, they're used for level 5 FSD range modifications...

Inara's Engineers section links through to the materials and data required for every single engineer mod (click the item to see what it's used for) just check each thing you're thinking of flushing against that to make sure its not some super-rare and useful one first.

They are about as common as the ubiquitous Modular Components. Rule is if you don't need them they will appear. as soon as you need them....

You are right about that :( I have 32 modular terminals just chilling and casually gathered them without any effort for Qwent for who I dont even have access yet, need Sirius allied first. But those damned Anomalous Bulk Scan Data avoid me :(

I found Anomalous Bulk Scan Data as mission reward at Jaques Colonia Hub (yes far far from bubble :D )
There are also:
- Telemetry Suite
- Conductive Polymers
- Nanobreakers
- Biotech Conductors
- Exquisite Focus Crystals
- Crystal Shards
- Tempered Alloys

as reward. All Missions from Jaques himself.

Someone is either off their rocker or a troll...

- Datamined Wake Exceptions are for grade 5 range engineering for FSD
- Abnormal Compact Emission Data, I was missing for another grade 5 engineering mod just the other day.

I recognize other hard to get bits that are required to unlock various engineers...

I wouldn't recommend discarding anything on that list without your own, careful verification.

I can't say if the entire list is bogus, but certainly about half of it is...

You're quoting a post from August 2016 which references a list from June 2016. Back then, everything on that list did not have any use in engineering. If you click through to the original list post from June 2016, even that has actually been updated since to show the current position, it's only the quoted version of it in the 18 month old post you replied to that doesn't reflect the changes.
