Newcomer / Intro How to get D scanner up in supercruise

in SC i hit deploy hard points and get the message deploying hardpoints but they dont deploy ....any ideas ??

Set the d scanner to a new fire group and just hold the fire button that it's assigned to until it says complete
like 2 weapons in fire group 1 and d scanner in fire group 2, under primary fire button or secondary

Yes it works if you then switch to the correct fire group. Check you right hand fire group panel to make sure it is assigned.

Your hardpoints will never deploy in SC but you can access your D Scan if you assign it to the correct fire group and it will be accessible all the time I think, regardless of whether hardpoints are deployed or not (as it isn't a weapon and doesn't use a hardpoint).

So, for example under the first column in the fire groups tab (this will be firegroup 1) set your weapons to (1) and your D Scan to (2). All weapons assigned to (1) will fire on primary trigger and your D Scan will fire on your secondary trigger.

I have weapons on main fire, all my scanners on secondary. OK, I get the BONG of doom when in combat, but it is less phaffing around.

Yep as others have said.

Assign to fire group from RIGHT UI
Select fire group when in HUD
hold button assigned to engage D - scanner

you can't / don't need to deploy hardpoints in SC. There's also a limited range, but it seems to be a 3d radius, so you may not detect things that are in 'deep space' when scanning near the primary star.
