While it is broken and that is v annoying, it is still usable by sound (I know this by the fact that i collected probably well into the thousands of mats with it in this state). FD are finally aware and supposed to be getting around to fixing it now, which will be nice to say the least!
You can still go to barnacles to collect mats as well, for the low grade stuff that is easily the quickest method.
