We have been stuck here in the Delta quadran for several years now. Tuvok is getting more and more impatient, however he is still firm in his belief that we can make it safe back to Alpha quadrant before our loved one's loses faith.

How can I enter Sol system? I do not have permit.

Do missions for federation, you'll get few ranks in the process but after a while you will be given Sol permit as a mission on bulletin board.

The Federation doesn't trust the Maquis traitors on your ship, and you need to earn your trust to see home again.

Haha, good one ;)

I thought it would come in a form of a mission on the bulletin board. But before I came to that conclusion I travelled all the way to Alpha Centauri..Just to head back again to Keramainn.

Is there something special in that area like bigger profits or so? the fact that you need a special license should make it worth the effort

The only special thing about Sol is that it is Sol.

There are no special missions, no equipment that's only available there, no discounts. It is, in all functional respects, the same as other Federation systems.

But it is Sol. And for a federation aligned player, it's their capital. Just as Achenar is the capital for players like me (Imperial alignment). Getting permits for any system is a matter of building reputation with the minor faction that controls the system - Mother Gaia in Sol if I remember correctly. There's also a rank gating on some permits. So missions for the federation, especially the minor faction controlling the system is the way to get a Sol permit.

Do a few (I think I did about 8) Navy advancement missions and then you get the permit one, I was in 61 cygni I think when mine arrived.

I don't think so. I was doing missions in Freng when I got the permit to Sol. I can't find a path there from here, but that's another story. I think you just have to keep doing naval progression missions wherever you are and you'll be offered the permit.

Is the permit permanent??? when i got the message & permit i rushed over & now i'm in Sol i'm disappointed that the trading & missions aren't as profitable as where i was. Sirius looks interesting but i need that permit now...so i'm gonna look at another couple of systems then return to where i was....i thought Sol would be more interesting with a varying enconomy

It doesn't matter where you gather the rep. I got a "permit" mission while being >100ly away...

Sol is a central system. It's mainly consuming resources, not producing them. Also, traffic is high, reducing margins. Profits are better at the border.
