How to get to Imperial space?

I've already failed to make Empire space once in a stripped down Eagle, I ran into a nasty area of space with no stars anywhere near each other, and way out of my jump range - so I'm going to have to try a different ship.
Does anybody know for sure the best ship to use for this? I'm hearing good things about the hauler so I'm wondering about that option.

I'm heading to imperial space too- hardly my choice (given my signature)- I just made a couple... bad calls, so to speak, in some Federation systems- And now I'm on the run.

I have my forum allegiance with Federation - Only because I'm trapped in Fed space until I make it otherwise.

Which hopefully may be soon, if I sell my Eagle and buy a Hauler.

So far, I like the general aesthetic, apart from my sadistic and dark side loving self.

The music that plays when you jump into an Imperial system, the colors on the stations, the loading animation and sounds at Station Services...all of it, just seems more appealing and polished. It exudes, this is power, OBEY. In Federation space, the fake friendliness of the noises and jovial nature in that space makes me sick.

Oh no no no, I'm living 40 LY away from Achenar atm, but I'm just infiltrating the Empire to get some ships I want, to kill some dirty federals on the way (who I hate even more than I hate you imperialists! ), to try and steal some military plans and / or liberate some slaves, and to see what happens with the Emperor who has been reported to be sick, cause I'm a pilot who likes some action!

I should be back to Alliance Systems one day though, I hope...

Sexy sexy spaceships you can only get with Imperial rep. Hopefully, a few that are less expensive than the Clipper, waiting to be released.

The Imperials also dress nice and smell good. Well, some of them.

So, I might be wrong, but based on the navigation instrument provided in the galaxy map, I cannot get to Imperial space from LHS 1914... My stock sidewinder and Eagle can only take me so far, and every time I check, I always get to a star beyond which I cannot jump, meaning I'm stuck in the Federation and an assortment of various. Yes, I get that I might be able to buy an upgraded drive somewhere, but the trouble is they're all very rare. Anyone got any ideas?

A few of us are doing missions for the empire around Fotla, Penzias dock. Lot's of good stations and high techy stuffs. Hope to see you there.

@OP. Good luck with your voyage, CMDR. It saddens me to think that Imperial citizens are trapped in the Federal nether regions.
I'm currently based in Kaliki and the local systems are providing an abundance of opportunities. I can't seem to improve my Imperial status though, despite being 'friendly' to the individual systems.
