How to get to the other side of a planet fast

I want to hyperjump to another planet, but that is not possible, because between my position just outside the spacestation and the system is a huge planet. Flying to the other side takes ages.
I've tried to dock to another spacestation in my system. That succeeded, but still the planet was in the way for the hyperjump.
Ho can I avoid this situation or get to the other side of that annoying planet fast?

Simple really.

First, the Gravity well of the planet keeps your speed slow, so, to get speed and get it fast, fly AWAY from the planet to where it's gravity has less effect on your ship/engines.

Once your speed is up (say around 500+ kps) start to slowly turn in the direction of your jump path, and you'll be clear of the planetary body in no time.

Cheers!

Fly around it.
Unlock your destination, engage supercruise, once you're in SC reselect your destination, fly around the planet, hit the FSD button again to engage hyperspace.

Fly straight away from it first in supercruise so you leave the "gravity well" that is inhibiting your frame shift drive to pick up speed. When you have enough speed you can then circle it much much faster.

The closer you get to the planet the slower you can fly so don't try to fly around it along the horizon...that will take ages. ;)

If you are too close to the planet OP, you'll see your speed is capped at 100km/s, so it takes forever as you say.

Like the others said, just get out of the planet's gravity and you can fly around the planet in a snap.

Maybe more feedback to the pilot would be a good idea.

Thanks guys and girls for this wonderful help.
I made it with your suggestions.

Game is great. An old dream comes true, but sometimes it is a little bit too difficult for a 50+ guy who loved to play Elite on the C64 in the eighties. Did cost me even a girlfriend who hated it that I kept playing sometimes even until breakfast.

Still got my C64 and the tape with Elite on it. Unfortunately the recorder doesn't recognize it any more. Too old. Just like me.

Have fun and hope to meet you in the galaxy.
