How to give fuel?

So came across an NPC distress signal. Dropped in and got a message he was stranded and needed fuel. Problem is I have no idea how to give fuel to someone else.

How do you do this?

You need a fuel transfer limpet controller installed and have limpets in your cargo. Each limpet will transfer 1 ton of fuel from your main tank to their main tank. You need to assign the controller to a fire group. You target the intended client and "fire" a limpet at them.

I have gone into a few distress signals myself and saved some ships from destruction by pirates, only to discover they needed fuel.
Having a Python outfitted for war I do not carry fuel limpets, so I was forced to let them perish.
I will pray for their fuel-less souls.

Found one of these myself last night.

But like you guys, I wasn't prepared to help.

I wonder.. if anyone has saved an NPC. Is there a reward for it?

So far I have only managed to save one NPC with a fuel transfer of 1T. I almost saved another with 2T and think he needed another 1T but was chased away by other NPC's in Wave 3 as I no longer had any SCB's remaining (the SCB nerf has greatly impacted my ability to stay on station in CZ's etc due to needing Heat Sinks now & not having enough of them). In fact, I'm usually chased away from most Distress Calls by pirate NPC's due to running out of SCB's before I can attempt to transfer any fuel. I'm beginning to think it's not worth the bother of using up a slot for the FTLC and limpets in cargo bay.

The only reward that you get whether you save a NPC or not is the bounty that you receive for destroying pirate NPC's. Use a KWS for maximum impact.

The rescue of NPCs is basically something for Fuelrats to do while waiting for real calls, lol. It beats just sitting at a statiin doing nothing.

You rely to much on SCB's.

Anyway, "finnished" a destress call one time. Defeated 3 waves of NPC's , then shot 2 tons of fuel to the guy.. but nothing happend afterwards. I think it was bugged.

Now i mainly fly in my Smuggling Asp, i need all my modules for fuel, and cargo. so i dont have limpets, and a transfer module on me.

The NPC thanks you & flies away when it gets enough fuel.

I've seen how quickly a multi million dollar rebuy screen stares you in the face if you let your shields drop... and that was to an NPC pre 1.5 when it stripped my Drop Ship shields faster than I could fire a SCB to maintain them & shredded the hull before I could boost out of range and/or engage SuperCruise. The SCB nerf in 1.5 is a bit excessive, I don't fully like it however I have been adjusting my builds accordingly including removing SCB's to extend range etc since I can no longer use them alone or count on them to be effective depending on their sizes. The SCB nerf has now resulted in me spending more time running away from a fight than attempting to stay and slug it out especially if there is even a hint that I can't beat the opponent.

Life's too short to spend it wasting hours of my time on grinding Credits in this game because FD has chosen to implement a game play mechanic that strips away your hard earned assets in a matter of seconds! If I choose to use SCB's to protect my assets then that's my prerogative. The other reason I prefer to use SCB's in a CZ is so I can protect my hull/modules as long as possible & not have to go running back to the station every 5 minutes for repairs as I learned early on that my ship's modules start acting up even at more than 50% health. A module acting up at the wrong critical moment is just asking for another rebuy screen. B^(
