How to grab a vehicle schematic from a crash site?

I have to say, Odyssey is proving to be a supremely frustrating experience so far...

The first mission i undertook ended in complete failure when i twitched while being scanned, and had to make a hasty exit. A few weeks later after a few patches i thought I'd try the most basic mission going but i can't even do this! Odyssey is doing an excellent job of making me feel like an idiot....

I'm supposed to grab the vehicle schematic from a crash site...

I've arrived the crash site, but just can't find the vehicle schematic but just can't find it. There's locked container, which i guess it must be in...but how to open it? Where do i get the pin code for it? Do I have to find//buy an e-breach to get in it? Grrr, it's so frustrating, I guess this is going to be 2 out of 2 for abandoned missions.

It was full of frustration and stupid stuff going wrong for me when I first started, took me ages to actualy succeed in a mission, but I do alright now.
I think mainly from learning the game's quirks and workarounds than from getting better.

Or when the powerbuilding is inside a rock and the last man standing (massacre mission) is inside

Did get him in the end by joining the glitch

I’m having problems with a similar mission. The title is “Grab the ship schematic from a crash site”, but the site it directs me to is a “Minor Wreckage”, not a “Crash Site”.

At the wreckage, there’s one single six-slot container with various stuff in, but one of the six slots is obscured by earth/rock. The other five slots do not contain a ship schematic. There’s also a dead pilot, who I have scanned/cloned, and a large cargo container (which is what my target points to) with two cuttable panels… which I have cut. Still no ship schematic.

What’s the deal here? Glitched mission that I should abandon?

Try to reload several times (maybe you need to supercruise out then back in) - you might get the mission objective to spanw in one of the accessible containers
Edit - on a second thought, reload should work

I’ve never had any problems with any of these types of missions. I know that doesn’t help, but sometimes you just need to “think outside the (e-breach) box”.

Twitching shouldn't cause them to dislike you, youu have to move quite a distance before they decide they don't like you. So it was probably something else.

I have experienced where the mission item is not in the container on the first visit to the site. Launching and jumping out flying 30K then re-entering and going back to the site (2nd visit), the mission item is in the Container. Some times the site has two or three containers and when dark hard to find, so with my ship, land close (300m) and lights on shining a good arc area (from an Anaconda)

For locked containers, ebreach is the only way.

I got a mission like 3-4 days ago - pick Genetic Sample from a shutdown settlement.
Landed, got clear instructions - pick object from Agricultural Locker 2, but there was no mission item in that locker.
I had to supercruise out then back in and retry the mission - luckily, 2nt time was a charm

Even more frustrating is when the crash site is on the sunny side of a too hot planet... and you cannot disembark. And the sunset is like 12 hours away and the mission expires in 7 hours

But like... that's what the shield is for, right? I mean... at least the SRV... you aren't saying that you can get missions on planets so hot that you don't actually have enough time to complete them? Surely not?

I've been playing ody on two accounts since December and have all suits and weapons (I want) upgraded and modded and have never had missing items.
I have had buried boxes or boxes that require e-breeches which wasn't mentioned in the mission brief and so I didn't buy them.

So I would normally supercruise out and back again until I got what I want. Someone then told me that the mission instance only disappears once the mission item has been taken and re-logging will work, so tried that and sure enough re-logging re-set the instance, which I do until the box (or item) is obtainable.
Obviously, re-logging at a settlement will generally mean that the mission item is the ONLY item left on the site, so if you want to get other mats jumping out then back again will be your best option.

I'm not surprised. It seems the mission only check if you can land on the planet, but not if you can land at any time of the day. Technically, you can land on it.

Same with "kill pirates in the system" but their only settlement there is disabled, so they don't spawn. The mission thing doesn't check that.

Both issues have been that way since release.

By twitching they probably meant drawing a weapon or turning the scanner on the guard!

I started to the get missing items after Update 11, had to supercruise in and out a couple of times, created a Ticket for it and noticed others had created tickets since U11 too, have only done one of those since the patch and the item was there but I guess the OPs post means its still happening.

N.B. Just noticed the date the OP posted!

yes indeed, see my #12 post

I haven't had a single one of these salvage item from crash sites work since U11. I can't recall if there was a support issue for it (so many, so many filled multiple times) or not, but I just don't take any of these any longer.

Now we have options for dialog, maybe it would be a good idea for Frontier to implement a 'need more time' response due to this sort of thing? Or maybe just simpler to have a check before handing out the mission, but I like the idea of interacting in these situations.
