Newcomer / Intro how to have free sight from the cockpit?

Main menu; Options; Controls; scroll down to ; +Headlook Mode click on that to expand it and see all the options.

That's what I thought. But none of these options appears to allow for a keypress toggle.

Or am I missing something blindingly obvious?

So I'm right? The toggle option has gone?

Can someone open their bind file and find the line so I can put it in manually?

I must agree that any kind of head tracking device makes Elite much better an experience. I personally use TrackIR (old v4 I haven't used for some time before starting with Elite) and when I'm playing on laptop at work or in a hotel, somewhere and don't have the ability to look around it looks.. almost claustrophobic. :D

Hah. The funny thing is, when I play without TrackIR, I keep my head p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y still to match the static view. "I can't move my head, because the view is fixed... I'm getting a crick in my neck... oh, wait!"

Exactly! When I don't have the head tracking available, I get neck cramps from forcing my head to be still. It's really funny, actually. :D

I totally agree. I got mine yesterady and after some getting used to I just love it. Especially in the SRV. :))

Have only one awesome word for you, OP:

"EDTRACKER" !!!

Cant imagine playin (for 2years now) without it. Without the ability to constantly, freely looking around while seated in my cockpits!! Google and buy it!!! Its a MUST BE for Elite!!!

For head tracking I use my mobile phone strapped to my headset (yes it looks as daft as it sounds - ask my wife!)

However the gyro's used in modern phone are way more useful than any or the face tracking stuff I've tried.

So until I get VR I'll keep strapping my phone to my head! Work bloody amazing as well!

Hey I have two words for you: Google Cardboard (yes, google that exactly!). It's cheap, and much better than what you are describing.

Everyone else: Yes, it appears to me VR head-tracking would be the ultimate for ED IMO. I only wish I could afford it - done properly. But first I would have to learn the HOTAS controls to the point of all buttons memorized. And how would you press the keyboard buttons with that setup? Perhaps AR would be better (I doubt it)?
