How to keep the mouse inside Elite Dangerous with multimonitor set up?

I have two monitors and i want to know how can i keep the mouse cursor inside the game instead of have it cross to the other monitor

There is a tool I use called DMT--Dual Monitor Tools. You can hit a hotkey to lock your mouse cursor to the window it's currently in, and another to release it (though tab switching out of the application disables that lock). I don't find it useful for Elite, but it's a godsend for the trucking sims when using the external camera.

i'll look into it, thx

If you run Elite in Fullscreen mode vs. Windows without borders. The mouse will stay in the game window unless you Alt-Tab out.
This is not strictly true. I run full screen and can move my mouse of the screen. It happens if your mouse is not bound to flight rotation and you move it too much. So far found no fix.

Sorry for the necro, but wanted to correct the information.

wow.....how is it possible that this game is years into development, multiple expansions out, and still has such glaring trivial programming, UI/UX, and general technical ERRORS???
this is a pure 100% failure at game programming, yet again.
really disappointing with such a great game to see this kind of amateur hour nonsense that ruins it.
(obviously this isnt the only thing, as theres so many like this)

yes - mouse lock in a flying/shooting game please???? wth are fdev thinking, seriously?
this is a 2-hour programming fix. ive done it before myself.

Burry this thread already, it keeps coming up.
I don't see the problem really, I always play with a second monitor in windowed borderless mode and it's working perfectly

There's a reason it keeps coming up. You may not have a problem with it and that's fine. However, this is an issue that many people dislike and want fixed. Having a game capture your cursor inside its window should be standard practice.

Edit: This should be an option you can toggle as it may become an annoyance for HOSAS/HOTAS users as another has stated below.

I use multi monitors, play the game in borderless window & don't use the mouse to fly. If the mouse were restricted to the game window I'd find that pretty inconvenient.

It is a problem that can be solved (either way) without the game needing to change.

Exactly.

See, anyone who responds to someone elses problems by saying "I dont have the problem, therefor lets ignore your problem", well, this is the definition of SOCIOPATHY.
Yes im educated in psychology as a matter of fact.
Lots of sociopaths on the internet.
These kinds of replies should be ignored.
They are dangerous, morally questionable (at best), and mentally ill (the people who make these types of statements/replies).
This is a medical fact not an opinion.

(ergo, the last two people who just replied to this post.....just ignore and stay away from them. they have problems beyond the scope of getting technical solutions for a game....)

PS. If you dont have this problem, I'm happy for you. Whether or not you are mentally sane enough to sympathize with those who dont. You have no reason to even be on this thread of course, but I'm happy for you none the less.

I do use the mouse and would like the opportunity to lock it in. This issue occurs even with just one monitor if running in windowed.

There are ways to solve it but so far all the methods I've seen just involve way too much bespoke software to achieve it... Like one actually needs to be used to launch the game to work... No thanks. I'd love an option to lock the cursor in game.

If I want to switch to another window I always alt tab. What's annoying about how it works natively is sometimes it locks the mouse and sometimes it doesn't. Usually the latter in the middle of a massive fight...

Sure, and if it worked the other way already I'd love to have the option to have a free roam mouse. Just changing the way the game treats the mouse would only transfer the problem (such as it is) to a different subset of the playerbase, one I'm in.

The solutions that are available are (obviously) not ones I've tried, and I have no doubt they would have their own downsides but solutions are already available according to other posts in this thread, my only source of this info.

I did say option ;)

I suffer from this problem too. Never used to, not sure what's happened (though I reinstalled my OS lately), though suspect it's a Windows/MS thing rather that ED, as there seem to be a few utilities written specifically to solve this problem, which shouldn't be a problem. It makes the game very difficult to play consistently as the app keeps losing focus.

Do you fly with the mouse?

Anyway, ED lets the mouse go when it has nothing to do for it. So when there is no mouse axis enabled for flying and mouse look is off too, why should it constraint the mouse cursor?
