Newcomer / Intro How to load binds files

I can see in my download folders lots of binds files for joysticks, and have a hotas thrustmaster but all I have in options/controls are generic joystick, mouse and keyboard, keyboard only and custom?

Where do I go to set the hotas bind on?

Where are you seeing these binds? My binds are stored in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Anything in this directory with a BINDS extension can be loaded as a control set.

Mine are in

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1003\ControlSchemes

Should I create a folder as per your post?

I just found the folder you are talking about

in Appdata I have two folders

Frontier Develpments
Frontier_Developments

So put the binds in the folder you said and still nothing shows up in presets, I have the t Flight hotas plugged in the home light is lit up red? And I have all the drivers installed. Never owned a pc joystick before! Noob sorry!

First you have to set up your stick in the game. To do that go to the control menu and select your stick from the pull-down menu at the top either by name, or, if that does not show up, as "generic joystick". Then set your axes and buttons to your preference. This setup will then be saved as "custom.binds" in the folder that Doctor Ace mentioned. You can then make a copy of this file, paste it into the same folder and rename it to say, for example, "HOTAS.binds". At this stage you are more or less set. When you go to the control menu again the will be a "HOTAS" entry in the pull-down menu, which will restore your settings if you should somehow lose them. Remember to do this every time you change something.
