How to make money with Powerplay without slave trading

Want to make millions? Become an elite trader? Rank up with the Empire?

I've got the video for you!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8CY2ZB3K_g

Please note, this is a video about how to make a power work for you, not to how to best work for a power. My goal is to help you make money and see how you can use powerplay to help you.

Well met! Do you play purely in Open as well? It's always great to run into commanders of a similiar mindset.

I play a mix. When I'm fortifying I tend to play in solo and watch a movie in the background. When there's something fun happening like an expansion, civil war, community goal I play in open.

Why against slave trading? As long as commanders don't haul them in a cargo with toxic waste the slaves should arrive in good condition, ready for work.

For someone who spent a lot of time to babble on about the morality of slave trade, you should probably spend a bit more time reading and understanding how the Imperial slave trade works.

It's more like indentured servitude than anything else...

It is interesting to me that they are called slaves, I'd think the imps would want to call them "imperial servants" or "imperial workforce program participants", anything more PR friendly than slaves.

Yep, this. I'll trade imperial slaves all day long and not lose a bit of sleep over it. They signed up for it willingly, so really I'm just a bus driver for wherever they're headed.

Now regular slaves, I do tend to stay away from. Unless someone is offering me 6M CR to take them somewhere... :D

My only problem with the video is saying that you get 70mil free credits whenyou leave the power and 1 merit = 10,000cr.

Tecnically only 20mil when you lose rank is "free" since the first 50 is from the previous weeks work.

You only get paid half of your merits that in salary so they are worth 5,000cr directly. Further gain as you instruct with your video is more time invested.

Buying your rank to start is a boost, but unless you are committed to staying at rank 5 for a couple months, the juice doesn't really seem worth the squeeze considering you need to login 2/hr for 60 hours each week to maintain rank 5 for free.

I hope you enjoy the Cutter. I am currently near the Heart Nebula in mine on the first leg of hopefully 100,000 ly of exploration.

What happens to an Imperial Slave who says no master I'm not doing this anymore? Firm words? They get passage home and a black mark against their honor?

Did you read Elite Reclamation where the slaves were on starvation rations in mines and when they revolted the Empire bombarded them to death?

Have you read any of the Galnet articles where imperial slaves revolted so the Empire sent strike forces (inlcuding player in a CG) and murdered millions of them.

Or the slaves that wee put through special training and had body modifcation practiced on them

It's very interesting and well worth reading all the stuff that is out there.

Indentured servants? Do you think they dont get the jobs that no one else wants like mining for tantalum light years away from their family or do you picture them as happy go lucky butlers?

Archon Marks his slaves the Empire brands(tm) theirs.

These aren't any old slaves these are M&S Slaves ;)

Someone has to mine the tantalum... and like you, there are many silver spoons out there unwilling to do the job.

And regarding the lack of freedom of choice, that was given up when said Imperial slave went into debt in the first place; and subsequently, they chose to become a slave in the first place. That is criminal in-and-of-itself, and in the world of the Federation, puts many in prison; a cost to society. Whereas with imperial slavery makes offenders contribute to society and pay their debt.

And on that note, if they were prisoners revolting on some prison installation deep in the void, I am sure you would't shed a tear were they met with a similar fate to the slave revolt incidents you mentioned!

Sucks to suck, but Imperial slavery is a choice vOv

You didnt answer a single one of my questions directly.

Not only that, you are making stuff up. Since when did the Federation put debtors in Prison?

And when was being in debt illegal in Elite?

I don't like the idea of human trafficking regardless of politics. Imperials tend to use extreme examples when supporting slavery which is intellectually dishonest. A slave is not the same as a person in debt.

If anything, I played out of your clearly rhetorical questions, read between the lines, and answered what it really was you were looking for.

So much effort I know, but I am a nice guy, I think... :)

Yeah you seem like a decent chap. Still didnt answer the questions directly and there was nothing between the lines. What I was really looking for was direct answers.

Fly safe and have fun. It's all good sport :)

Are there no prisons, no workhouses? ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

The guidance I was given when writing that aspect of the story was that slaves in the Core systems are treated well, in fact, it's a matter of honour to do so and to be seen to be doing so. The further out you travel though... the worse the conditions get.

Cheers,

Drew.

If these useless eaters can't afford a Sidewinder then they become a commodity and are property. It's dangerous out there remember.
