How to make real money and have fun!

I did exactly what you are not supposed to to. I went out bought an asp, kitted it out for max cargo (128) and no sheilds and am LOVING it. I had a maxed cobra and the game was starting to verge on boring, when docking I just threw myself at the landing pad bumped a few times and the sheidls took it and the computer righted me and I docked. I jumped into combat without thinking as my cobra could take it and things had lost their edge. Now when I dock, bearing in mind the slightest dink in the hull will cost minium 10k and easily 30k, I am really careful! with the increased mass and poor thrusters I have to really pay attension to the approach to the station and plan what I am doing...
...and the benifits? 128T of silver will bring me in about 110k profit each leg of a run. Believe me the interdiction minigame is now exciting, not jsut throttle down and check if its the popos or some pirate wanting to be vaporised.

Game getting stale? try the no gun/sheild asp with 128 precious metal and not enough money to cover the insurance...

Most of the people doing what you do, and they are losing everything then they start a thread of quitting the game or something else.
So do not listen to the OP and do not try this at home!

A game with consequences! Play it your way and if your poor decisions come home to roost then you only have yourself to blame.

I blame WoW for the current state of babying in modern games.

I do the same and it's still boring as hell. Barely any interdictions, about 240k round trip and I feel like a mindless monkey. Trading is so boring in this game, it's not even a game anymore, feels like a freaking job actually.

i like your style, but when your ready to take real risk ;) then try this........

no gun/ no shield trading precious metals and not enough money to cover insurance in major faction space with HOSTILE rep

that will sort men from boys. I did this ..... and found I'm just a boy :)

^^ This. No shields, no insurance. Say hello to to your new Sidewinder and then go to forums to ragequit and complain about "bugs" and what not.

Doing this since yesterday, obviously made it past the no insurance bit, game is still boring as hell. Now what?

Some of us are (to quote Steven Tyler), "Living on the edge".
Risk, is it what it's all about?
There doesn't appear to be a lot, unless you are undocking when there is a type 9 blocking your exit and you have 30 seconds on the clock.

Got to agree there about risk. Maybe once wings come in, maybe we'll get interdicted by pirate wolfpack's and increased frequency of interdictions. Shieldless/weaponless trading should be impossible imo in a dangerous universe.

As soon as I could afford to, I stripped out everything from my Sidewinder to get 10 cargo bays. Now have a hauler with 22 bays (no shields/scanner). Never had a problem landing, escaping an interdiction is pretty easy, only failed a couple of times and easy to outrun.

The rewards far out-way the risk, when I buy a Cobra I might consider swapping tactics, gameplay.

I went the opposite way, made myself a fighting transport ship, and killed all the npc pirates trying to interdict me on the way.
That was pretty nice, I got money from freight and bounties, and gained some combat rating too!

...Yeah... that _was_ nice until people, who were flying without shields and guns, started WHINING that there's too many interdictions.

No, there wasn't too many interdictions, just a right amount, and now there's none.

Nah. I enjoy the comfort of my almost fully kitted Cobra. I don't want challenge. I enjoy being overpowered. I want mindless and easy fun.

LOL ... Just did the same, I've been minng and trading up to the ASP since Gamma. Just got my behind kicked on a bounty mission, 7% hull and canopy blown out, made it back to a station only to have them fire on me as I entered. I must have had a bounty on me and didn't notcie, I was just concentrating on getting ther as I was down to 30 seconds on oxygen. As soon as I got scanned it was lights out.

But I'm not mad at the game at all, its risk v reward, I took the risk and lost ... Saylavee ... 7mil down the black hole.

But I can't face another grind like that, I'm going to take a break for a while, the grind is just too boring to do again.

I have my Asp set up as a multifunction, 92T cargo space with weps, shields, KWS, exploration scanner, etc. I am currently running a rares circuit of about 25 systems. I get to the new system, buy the rares available, then see what missions are in the same general direction I am heading. I allow interdictions, and once in a while will hit a nav beacon or an USS to add to the mix.

I am really enjoying this play style. I keeps me on a general path, but I have plenty of opportunities to get side tracked when they present themselves.

Been doing it for a week. Hardly ever interdicted and an asp fries eagles and sidewinders halfway through the first pass. Vipers might need a bit of chasing. The only real danger are players (easily avoided, just get off the beaten path) and collisions.

If you have insurance set aside its worth the risk, increases profit about 30%.
