How to navigate the Galaxy Map Menu in the Rift

I move the circular cursor over a star, hit select and the white select box turns red. Then when I try to navigate the menu with the up, down, right and left buttons it just moves the cursor off the star. What am I missing?

I'd suggest remapping the menu navigation buttons, preferably on a HOTAS if you have one. I have the cursor traverse movement on my mini-thumb joystick on my throttle (or use a HAT switch) along with my rudder axis (that handles X/Y/Z traverse), and Pitch and Yaw on the joystick (no reason for Roll). I use a different Hat for navigating the menu tabs along with "Select" and "Back"
