Newcomer / Intro How to pay off Bounty?

well, welcome to 3308 commanders, I also have annoying trespass bounties in Shinartra Desra and am on a hop miles away in horizons just to go back and claim my bounty

This whole process makes many missions too much of a PITA to even consider, yes sure, go there, scan that, kill X, get paid but then add a stage befoe getting paid thats bascially search the galaxy for a compatable IF and go there first is completely useless

... a 5 year old thread - last post 2 years ago - and getting your bounties and fines mixed up plus it isn't 3308 any more in the game, it is 3309. Honestly, IFs are not hard to find - use INARA like the rest of us.

Yes, also many more threads in last 2 years raising specific issue as mentioned, including on this forum the subreddit, replies from Fdev saying report it. I do know how to Google, in fact there is a question on this forum relating to SD and a Pilots Federation Local bounty specifically.

Yes of course I went to many IFs before posting also, I thought I said that. Not everyone is a first post idiot so let's not go around implying it with offhand 'like everyone else' comments, coz my fellow commander it's a bit passive toxic isn't it?

This is the newcomer sub forum and while I am not a newb (I am 42 and may well have been playing Elite before you were born IDK, I first started playing in around 92 IRL) it is a newb topic of interest. I have tried all the advised actions and it wasn't until I'd spent 2 hours trying to pay said 600cr fine that I posted and just handed myself in.

Sorry, I didn't realise it was 3309, I'll probably still be putting 22 down IRL for a while my mistake.

Paying off a bounty is not obvious even after 5 years. It is a crappy muddled system with very poor ingame explanation and makes very little sense. Fines, bounties, notoriety, wanted status, same system, different system, travel x Ly away, local authorities vs Interstellat Factors, works here but not there, confusing ingame messages, relogging to take effect, blah blah blah. Sure finding Interstellar Factors is easy, I got one right on my fleet carrier. Resolving legal issues not always obvious.

We have Interstellar Factors on our Fleet Carriers? I never noticed!

Redemption Office. See how confuzzling the system is after after 5 years of playing! Lol! 😀
I must have assumed that was just for handing in bounties I'd earned killing criminals, and combat bonds... Thanks, will be handy when I've worked off my notoriety out here in the Black, after last night's massacres...

Redemption office have to be enabled... they are not free to FC owners... The owner must enable them at a cost... Then any user can hand in a selection of rewards with part of the fees they pay going to the FC owner...
Part of the Redemption office suite the FC owner can install allows all bounties for ships kill to be handed in no matter were that FC is...
Youll likely find youll still not clear killing civs with out the timer count down still of 2 hours per kill...

I had always thought Redemption Office allowed to pay off fines. Hence the name "Redemption". Don't bother going to the Redemptoin Office if you are seeking redemption.

The notoriety is going to zero after me exploring for ages. Then I go back to my FC and want to pay off my bounties as per any other Interstellar Factor. Please tell me that works!

I appreciate that but I'm already using the wddb tool, went to independent and alliance stations over 60ly away, no IF will accept it. Reported to Fdev and handed myself in after a high speed Jameson mail slot dive haha

60ly? No wonder, you need to be far enough away from the place you attained the bounty there are no representavies of the faction you got it from, go several hundred ly to be sure, 60 is hardly a puddle jump.

For FC owners its allways better to pay bounties rewards from killing ships on the FC as 10% is recovered back to the FC while the rest is given to the subcontracted operator...

Not in 3.8
Murder kills bounties on the ship you own failed to clear in 3.8 that is not a function that was possible you transfered wanted ships to FC got in them and then you remained wanted and unable to clear them on the FC in 3.8...

Murder kills bounties in 4.0 moved back to the person not the ship... Ive not tested in 4.0 Youll likely find out first, now that its linked to single player and person not ships..

Thanks - I'm playing in 4.0 but didn't bother doing the 4 jumps back to my FC in the end as I needed some space mats, I went to the IF in one of the two systems I'd got murder-bounties put on me, and even when notoriety was zero I still couldn't pay them all off, either at the normal legal contact or the IF. Even after rebooting. So I went 21ly away, where there was another IF, and ironically I was wanted in the system too (not many factions in Colonia)... Eventually paid it off by handing myself in there, but may have been easier to do the 4 jumps to my FC...
