How to put someone on ignore after the event?

To be clear ... I only want to put someone on ignore if they play in a very specific game-spoiling (for me) style. By which I mean unprovoked, no-gain, no-warning attacks-on-sight using overwhelming weaponry. I'll try to avoid the g word.

I have no issue with PVP per se but this type of behaviour is just not fun and genarally impossible to defend against. There is no fair fight possible here.

If a player decides to make an unprovoked attack loaded up with cannons your shields (and most likely hull) will be down to virtually nothing before you have any chance to respond. Not a chance in hell of winning (or even starting) a dogfight against them in that state. So first strike basically wins. Where's the fun in that?

So, having encountered such a bad sport player once, I'd rather not have to deal with them again. But therein lies the rub. There is simply no time to go through the comms menu to find the ignore option before you are blown to bits and facing the screen-of-death which tells you who is responsible but leaves no option (that I can see) to add them to your ignore list.

Have I missed something or is this just an oversight that will be fixed?

While I'm on the subject... any idea why the ignore list doesn't seem to be absolute? i.e. I hear there is still a chance of encountering an ignored player. Given that there is a choice of playing completely solo online (effectively an 'ignore all'), would it be difficult in some way to have absolutely zero chance of being placed into the same instance as player you have ignored... at absolute worst that could mean solo online (unlikely)?

'Ignore' doesn't really work like that.

It will block comms, so if the ignored is spouting offence you won't get to hear it.

It will push them down the matchmaking algorithm, so you are less likely to meet them again, but you may given particular circumstances. Hitting 'ignore' mid-fight would just block comms, one of you needs to flee or be destroyed before the matchmaking would come into play.

it doesn't work like that, current BLOCK command just blocks COMM messages from that player, and not being in same instance ;)

so just run if you see such player, i found out that best is to "ally" them in conflict zones, then they will not annoy you...usually ;)

Was this saturday with you having a bounty?

As i did collect a bounty from a commander with your name saturday eve, apologies but money is money :)

If not - some of the areas out there are pretty lawless, be careful, it is better when people have a reason to engage you however.

OK I understand that ignore (or 'block' is it?) doesn't work like I'd like it to. But, how do I even use this feature after my unavoidable death? Seems odd that there is no way to key a name into a block list.

I really love the idea of playing 'all online' minus a few idiots but I can see the absence of a true block list forcing me into solo or a private group, which is a real shame. I'm sure I'm not the only one feels this way.

You should always see the name of the commander that killed you on the 'You are dead' screen. Make a note and then in the Options before starting/rejoining you can add it to the ignore list.

I may well have been taken out with a bounty on my head on Saturday. I am often 'wanted' (usually after being scanned with 'stolen' goods ). But that is ABSOLUTELY NOT a problem. That is game play and I'm 100% cool with it. If I'm choosing to fly around with a bounty on my head ... or even just with cargo in my hold ... then it's up to me to be wary. I get that.

It's only the kill-on-sight-with-no-reason game-spoilers that I don't want to see more than once.

Yeah that's what I'm missing. How/where do I do that?

Not got the game in front of me right now, but you have a Friends/Groups option in the game menu before you start playing but after you have chosen Open (I think). In there I think you administer your ignore list.

Not totally certain as I haven't added anyone yet.

It seems in the pre-game menu you can only block someone who is on your friends list...just tried. Haven't blocked anyone in anger yet.
