Newcomer / Intro How to quest?

So, i bought this game yseterday and ive spent a couple of hours learning how to fly and manouver my ship. I am starting to get the hang of it by now. My issue is tho, i can't really figure out how to complete my quests! Let's pick two of the quests i have. I have to fly to Kirin to retrieve a black box, now i know hot to jump to this location, but i have no idea where i should look for this black box. I think i have jumped to every location withing this sector, but with no luck finding this black box.

Earlier i had a killing mission (witch is now failed). I had to kill some kind of cargo ship and do something (can't remember), but yet again, i know where in the system the quest should be located, but i find it impossible to find that spesific cargo ship.

So, it's pretty obvious i have no clue what to do at this point. I know my way around the system where the quests should be located, but how do i get to the spot where the quest should be?

Am i missing out on something or am i plain stupid?

For black boxes, rebel intell, and the like you find a USS (Unidentified Signal Source) and drop into it. Target it and you approach it like a station. When the bars line up in the blue in the lower left you can drop out of Supercruise aka SC. You can sometimes find pirates in them too. To make them pop, usually you can just go at the lowest SC speed and they will spawn. Warning though, not every one will have what you are looking for, it may take some work to find the right one. What is in them is randomly generated.

Weak signal sources have different things and strong are usually meant for wings and are 'traps' of a sort. If you get a hunt pirates, a RES site or the Nav Beacon are good places to start. You can target those in the Navigation list in the right hand panel first tab. Scan a ship to see if they are wanted, if wanted you can usually shoot them without repercussions. A KWS aka kill warrant scanner may increase the amount of credits you can make too.

I always get the required items in wss, but each to his own. Ships are best found in uss and nav points (and eventually res points)

Taking kill missions for anything other than pirates is probably not a good idea until you know how to deal with the consequences of doing illegal things. I know, and still never take them, I don't want to be hunted unless there is a damned good reason, an a few credits is not sufficient reason to me.

Also worth a mention is that collecting black boxes is considered illegal and you will need to sneak into the station without being scanned ny the fuzz.

Docking at outposts is much safer as there is usually no security.
