Newcomer / Intro How to rank up to KING in the Empire....?

I grind-ed my way up through the Empire Ranks and finally....

In the Right hand panel, I'm 100% Allied with the Empire, and the rightmost panel shows I'm PRINCE 100%...

What do I have to do to get to KING.....?

:)

Heh.. thanks for the humour, but...

1. There don't appear to be any 'King' missions (there were none for 'Prince' - I simply got a message)

2. In the right hand panel the 'meter' is stuck on 'Prince 100%' - doing missions for the Empire doesn't seem to move this

....?

Give me a week or two and I'll let you know.

Try logging out and back in and then move to another empire system. I had a mission to do for Prince, something like 78% towards king.

Then I am going to marry the Smurf Princess and rule the Galaxy.

You need to find a specific Navy ranking mission. You tell us that you made the 12 previous ones by accident and didn't notice?

Aha... I got it

I was offered an 'Imperial Navy Covert Transportation Mission' - the icon was the little pirate skull that usually accompanies the missions offered by pirate factions

The mission definitely didn't mention the prospect of any promotion, but when I completed it I got a message promoting me to King.

It's possible that I did indeed get missions of this type before, but I didn't connect them with a promotion because they failed to mention that outcome.
(usually, 'promotion' missions mention that prospect)

You definitely must have done one of those at every promotion. There isn't any other way than a mission. :)

Yes, I think I must have missed it...
Certainly on this occasion there was no mention of 'promotion' or anything like it; can't really remember the previous ones.

I'm still confused as to why you are posing questions on the Newcomers forum when you have ranked up enough for Federal Corvette, Cutter etc (and now to King of course - guess you are maxed out in Fed too).....PLUS in another post you state you have level 5'd ALL the current engineers.......?????

I'm just waiting for the final bombshell that you are triple Elite......! :D

Maybe the pilot just feels more at home here. [hotas]
The mailslot outside the Newcomers station has a big flashing 'WELCOME' sign [yesnod], whereas Dangerous Discussion has 'ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK' plastered in random sized letters on the mailslot entrance. [where is it]

Agreed. I stay here, most of the time, myself. It's much friendlier and light-hearted, here.
Plus the fact that someone owns the Corvette doesn't mean they know everything about the game. :D
(Actually it's more than likely, actually, because that means that for past several weeks/months they didn't do anything but ground for the ranks...)

Well, there are several reasons... (some of them have already covered by recent posters)

1. Yes, I have ranked up across the board by grinding along in Solo since the game was released, but it is clear to me that there is a lot I don't know about the game (I believe my questions reflect that).
Many of my questions fall into the Noob category (heh... a few days ago, I couldn't work out why I couldn't take a mission because of 'Ship too Large' - turned out I couldn't have docked at the receiving station! Did NOT consider that....)

2. Yes, it definitely IS a lot friendlier in this forum - I've lurked in other areas of the forum and watched the flame wars break out (sigh)

Thanks to everyone who offered assistance (I'll keep asking my stooopid questions....) :)

Cool, just to be clear, wasn't trying to be unfriendly or unwelcoming, just curious! - I myself come here for many of the same reasons - in particular I find the repetitive and duplicitous nature of the threads in the other forums become rather tedious. Anyway ....I am, certainly insofar as the Engineers and Empire ranking are concerned, just a LOT further back in progress than you are!

No offence taken at all

Yep, in terms of 'willingness to help' I find this to be the most useful of all the forums (as well as the 'specific topic' forums - ie 'lists of things')
(take this opportunity to thank all the posters here, who amaze me with their knowledge!)

As you say, I have advanced quite a bit in ranking terms, but I don't equate that with knowledge; as I'm playing and something happens that I don't understand (often!), I've developed the practice of jotting it down. When I get 2 or 3 of those I do a search and if this turns out to be fruitless I post here.
(This system didn't quite work out, 'cos another poster gently pointed me to a list of FAQ-type guides and resources I didn't know existed... but that another story...)

Anyhow, my gut feeling is that, despite my rankings I really am a noob... but willing to learn!

Fly safe guys!
