How to reduce crime?

SOLVED! Solution: add tall security cameras all over your park.

I'm currently working on the 9th scenario "Hiring Freeze". I'm stuck on one misson..
" Keep crime occurrences below 8
  • For the duration of the reporter's visit"
This scenario doesn't let you hire (or fire) staff. So, I only have 1 security guard, not able to hire more. I did train him regularly so he's at 5 stars now. But I can't seem to get past this mission, which is infuriating because the reporter only visits once every year.
I used to get messages saying there were lots of notifications of pickpocketing. These notifications have disappeared so I thought I might get through the mission now, but during the last reporter's visit I still had 23 crime occurences. Right now I'm just really lost as to how I have to reduce this further? Do I manually have to go through all my guests to see who's a pickpocket? Help! :(

I haven't reached that mission yet. But perhaps plop some security cameras?

I have the same problem, my security guard is at 5 stars and I have cameras everywhere, the crime rate did go down, but currently it is stuck at 12.
I placed the cameras in crowded areas and near shops and atms, as that is where I think the most pick pocketing would happen. But I haven't managed to get it any lower than 12.
I'm really missing some kind of feedback system on crime right now, like where did the pickpockets and vandalism take place so I could focus those areas and place more cameras. i currently have the feeling all additional cameras that I placed don't lower the crime in my park.

i havent done that scenario but can you just close the zoo? no visitors no crime.

Totally agree that we should have heat map or something to show where crime is happening. Also for littering.
But I passed the mission today by placing security cameras around my whole park. The tall ones that cost 150$.

Imagine if the game had a security room with all the security tv footage is played.
Like, who is reporting to the security guard where to run to?

I've just finished that scenario and can confirm security cameras are your friend, and staff training! Train the hell out of all the staff you have and give them pay rises, it helps enormously.

I put security cameras everywhere. I'm not sure if you need to do this but you can click on them and see what direction they are facing (quite fun.) Not sure if this was important but I paid particular attention to ATMs, shops and the very busy places.

Good luck! :)

But also means no money :censored:

Tbh, I didn't find money that much of a prob in this scenario, at least once the zoo got going? My thinking is that the scenarios are still acting as tutorials even by this stage, and so they're making you investigate different aspects of the game in each.

Oh!! An important thing - Sell All The Crap Buildings! If you look about the site, there are loads of unnecessary bits and bobs - like the silos, the things that look like tanks, the flooring etc etc. Even some of the stuff in the habitats themselves - you can sell all that stuff. I ended up with a nice little pile of money 'for free', if you see what I mean?

Hope this helps! Good luck! ^^ :)

Closing your Zoo for a small amount of time till the task completes might work if you are willing to cheese the scenario. (Which I have done once or twice especially in the African Safari park). You might lose a bit of money, but hopefully you will only be closed for a small amount of time. And once the scenario is over you can leave the park to rot (again, like I did with the safari park lol)!

But its definitely not the "right" way, or at least not the intended way.

Money usually isn't an issue at all, definitely not! But I found myself going into debt constantly at the beginning of this scenario, for some reason. Then I forgot to give my zebras a feeding and water bowl in their new enclosure so they were dying and I didn't have money anymore  Luckily I could go back to an autosave where I still did have some money so I quickly gave my zebras water+food and bought some animals with a loan and my remaining CC (okapi, peafowl) this finally got me some real money and I didn't have any trouble with debt after that.

To everyone giving me tips, it is very very appreciated but I already managed to finish the scenario! I placed the tall security cameras all over the park and got through the mission when the reporter visited again. The rest of the missions were very easy and quickly done.

Monsarona, lol, exactly, I never return to any scenario! I do usually start out really motivated, making nice looking habitats but once I get to the gold stage I'm like "ok, let's get this over with and move on". All my scenarios include an area that looks really nice and an area that looks like literal hippo poo :poop:

The only Scenario I kinda wanted to stay in was the Canadian one where they give you an empty plot to start from scratch in. I liked it because the interesting terrain gave me a bit of a challenge in how to set up the Zoo efficiently. I actually kind of grew attached to that park.

Makes me kinda wish the franchise/challenge/sandbox maps had an option to randomly generate terrain with mountains and bodies of water upon creation. Just to have a bit of variety.

Have you tried reading the thoughts of tour guest. A pickpocket will be happy that they just picked a pocket and it should be a group of one. Once you found someone have them removed from tha zoo, plus you should get the monet back.
