you can't you are now marked for the aliens as food source and they will come for you. Because in reality these barnacles are just lure like markers leading the aliens to tasty sentient evolved species.
Self destruct is the only way, barnacles can take a tremendous amount of fire power, people have been shooting them for weeks and they are not even scratched.
Everyone that went to see them barnacles has them growing on their hull now, they start off microscopic and end up 100 meters long.
