How to remove the X 52 throttle speed bumps

Not sure if this invalidates the warranty so if you're bothered by stuff like that best leave the throttle alone.

I don't do much DIY stuff so I'm pretty clumsy when i comes to fixing things but this was super easy to do and took less than 5 mins, the hardest part funnily enough was figuring out what this feature is called so that I could look up a tutorial for it. Most important thing is keep a track of the 8 screws you remove as they are of 3 different lengths. I'll post the link that I found below, its not mine so I don't take any credit for that.

and sorry if its been linked around here before.

I was only slightly bothered by the speed bump thing and kind of got used to it after some hours, i guess, but last night it seemed to come loose and was making my throttle behave strangely, would not stay at zero throttle and the bumps felt like they had moved way out of place, this is the main reason I decided to take a look. Anyway it all work great, fixed my problem and no more resistance bumps at the top and bottom of the throttle range :)

Fantastic.

I recently got the x52, and these bumps on reaching full and zero throttle are really annoying.

I'll probably give this a go tomorrow.

+rep Thanks again

Yep, I did this already, surprising how much they affect the game. It's only after you take em out you realise how much of the time you spend in those 2 spots.

Alternatively you could've unscrewed the screw on the left hand side of the throttle stand. That did job for me

The silver on the exterior left side controls the overall tension, but it does not remove the bumps, you can feel them around the top and bottom of the throttle range, although I've heard that with lots of use these bumps eventually go away or at least offer much less resistance around those areas, my stick is only a few weeks old though so they are very much an annoyance if you just want a smooth motion from 0 to 100%

Just for info, the bumps are called 'detents'.

Hmm, I might take mine apart and give it a good clean. Would love to find a way of making the stick less ... slack.

I know people who have fitted stiffer springs instead of the stock one to do that. Dont use the stick myself, never have, just use it as a button bay and use the throttle with a msffb2, the best stick ever made (have another in the cupboard in case this one breaks).

Removed mine a few months the ago after the bumps started sticking a lot and feeling broken. Never looked back the stick is perfect now.

I did this with the help of exactly that guide two weeks ago, everything went fine. Just check that you really removed all screws before trying to force the thing open (I nearly missed the two near the silver on the side). I also didn't have any problems fitting everything back together, just peek into the side to make sure that the two white parts fit into the correct slots. The result (smooth throttle) is definitely worth it!

I would not want to remove mine. When in SC the top detent/bump is the right place to hit around 6s from target, which is the optimal speed. It also gives an idea where the blue zone is in normal flight when dog fighting.

Hm
I hated these bumps in alot of games but kinda got used to it.
ED is the first game where i actually find them useful. For example when im on my way to a station in supercruise. 10s before i just pull throttle back and up again to the bumper so its on 75% and i dont have to adjust speed.

Used this thing for years so maybe it got less resistance than it had in the beginning.

First thing I did once I got my stick working is removed mine. Horrible "feature" that I can't think of any real use for in gaming.
