How to return Scarab to Ship

SOLVED

Hello All,

First post. New to the game.

I landed on a planet and deployed the Scarab from a landing pad. Wheee! Fun driving around but I had no idea what to do, so went to return it to the ship and... I have no idea.

Googled it, could only find PC instructions. Something about "looking down". All that gives me is the role panel, and I can only select the ship to view its description. Same for the Scarab. Same for my CMDR.

Tried to set the ship as a target and drive towards it. It appeared to be about 100m underground and inaccessible. Tried to drive up onto the pad. Got stuck. Got bounties. Crashed Scarab. Now I am wanted for pad loitering and I have no buggy.

I tried to drive back into the garage bay I came out of, but that did nothing.

TL;DR When I get out of this system and buy a new buggy, what are the controls to summon the ship to pick me & the buggy up?

Welcome aboard Cmdr o7, hold square and down (On directional pad) select srv, click x, (menu appears on the bottom right), if you are correctly placed under the ship then the option to board ship will be blue, click that(x) and voila[yesnod]:D apologies I think I misread, are you at a base? But your ship has flown off, if so same sort of thing, square down, s3lect recall ship, and look on the radar for a green hollow rectangle coming into view, that's you, drive over and continue with above steps o7

If and when someone gets more than two or three k's from their ship, the ship automatically dismiss's itself. As the previous post states, useing your controler you must recall your ship. Park under it's loading and unloading area, and select board ship. Been there, done that, spent an hour looking for my ship, though I could see the icon representing it was near, it's parking spot when dismissed in always 10 k above the object one is on.

I'm courious as to how does one deploy their srv from a dock. I've read where other like yourself have done so, but as many times as I've tried, I've never been allowed to. Question, were you actually parked on an actual dock or on the ground in close proximity to a stations dock.

Sounds like you deployed the SRV while docked at a base. In that case you have to request boarding permission, just like when landing your ship. Then you drive the SRV into the little boarding area, it’s a building — your compass will point there. Once inside, use the lower panel in the SRV and choose “board ship”.

So I've never been able to board my ship when it was docked at a planetary station :-(

What I typically have to do is dismiss my ship first (from the bottom "role" panel,) and once it's gone then go back into the "role" panel and recall it.

I'm not sure why, but sometimes my ship will land right in the middle of the base, and other times I get a message saying I have to drive a certain distance from the base before I can recall my ship.

Once you ship does land, drive under the glowing box and use the bottom "role" panel to board ship as was previously posted.

Note - you can also self destruct (last tab of right panel) to save time, but you will need to buy another SRV which I think are ~5,000 credits.

Best of luck!

THANK YOU! I can't believe I didn't think of that :S

I had a hell of a time at one base. I decided to go driving to check out the graphics (I figured it was a unique opportunity as you can't explore the orbitals) and when I went to find my ship (which had an HUD beacon marker and all) it was somewhere underground and the beacon kept moving all over the place. On my center panel there were no options to recall the ship even after I drove out past 3 km. My ID was blurred out and I was tagged as "anonymous" (so maybe it was some covert mission and my ID was secret???)

In any case. I just bounced around until I blew myself up so I could respawn in the ship. So much for role playing on that one. Now I will never leave the ship at a planetside base again ...unless the devs add a "bag of breadcrumbs" or "Theseus thread" update.

I've been at large bases where I've taken a trip in the SRV. When returning (request boarding etc..) I sometimes found that the ship green square was appearing nowhere near where the compass was pointing to, sometimes 2km away on the far side of the base. If I follow the compass I do get to the correct garage, but if I followed the ship I found I couldn't board when outside the garage.

I did some testing at one base where I just left the garage and then immediately recalled the ship. The ship appeared at the far side of the station as I described above, and the compass pointed to the garage directly behind me.

This was 2.4 behaviour and I've not tried it since, but it goes to show that you can't always assume you can get to the ship by following the green open box. I intended to report it but decided to wait as 3.0 was imminent. In fact it's something I should try again.

Never had issues like that, but sounds like you might not have targeted your ship and still had the base targeted instead? o7

Ooh, I think that's worth trying out tonight. Always just landed outside a base to deploy the srv.

I see why you thought I had the ship targeted. I think I stated wrongly that I recalled the ship. In fact I requested boarding after targeting the base.

I targeted both in turn to highlight the distance to ship for the video (at the time), but you have to have the base targeted to request boarding.

The point I was making is that the ship doesn't always appear on radar in the same place as the boarding point, and on large bases can be quite a long distance away. Now does this mean my ship has moved since being in the SRV, or is there an unseen transfer system inside the corridors and twisty passages! At the time of testing I took screens to see if the cockpit view was the same before & after but it didn't feel conclusive.

As I said this was 2.4 behaviour. It might have changed, and one of these days I'll retest it, but it's no game breaker. Just a confusion to those who may not know to follow the compass to the boarding point rather than find the ship. This was my experience when I first did it.

Yea, never noticed or checked if ship changes pad while having a drive or not.

It makes sense for the srv compass to point to the assigned boarding point once you have requested docking permission tho, as is the same for landing the ship at stations/bases.
