How to save habitats as a blueprint with other buildings

I've created a children's zoo area in the sandbox zoo I use for designing and testing new buildings. It includes a garden, a "bug zoo," which has four exhibits with arthropod species, a garden area, a playground, and three small habitats (one is a walkthrough with llamas to serve as a sort of "petting" zoo). The whole area is surrounded by a wall and includes some props and so on.

I'd like to save the whole thing, habitats and props and buildings, as a blueprint so I can put it in a franchise zoo. But I can't figure out how to select it entirely in a way that includes the habitat enclosures. I know other players have designed buildings with habitats inside them, but I can't for the life of me figure out how.

You have to place the habitat barrier around everything you want to include when you save as a blueprint - once placed, delete and place habitat barriers where you want them - only individual items that are inside habitats (whether grouped as buildings or not) are included in blueprints.

Okay, thanks! Does the habitat barrier around the outside need to have a gate?

I still can't figure it out >.<

When I put a wall with a habitat gate around the whole children's zoo, I can blueprint items inside, but not the actual habitats within. The blueprint saves without the barriers for the internal habitats. I guess I can remake them, but since the walkways don't save either, I kind of lost my layout. I know people blueprint entire zoos and upload them to the workshop, so there must be a way to have all the enclosure barriers save as part of a blueprint too.

You can’t blueprint whole zoos - you can share the save file (which is not the same thing). Habitat blueprints include the terrain but not the paths and can’t include smaller habitats within them.
If you want to share what you’ve done with others you can upload the whole zoo to the workshop - if you want to ‘paste’ what you have done into an existing zoo you’ll have to do as I said above and will need to add the pathing and the habitat barriers back in afterwards.

Eh, I guess I can recreate the barriers as well as the paths. It's kind of a pain not having at least one of the two, as I find that helps keep me "gridded" better when estimating space. I hate it when I put a bunch of gridded buildings down that are supposed to be easy to connect to a path I put in later, but somehow there's that one piece that won't connect. Happens a lot with exhibits and staff buildings, or one piece of the path goes off in a wonky direction.

Anyway, thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I've discovered a bunch of tricks everyone else knows that weren't at all obvious to me.
