How to scan data point when you can't go inside the settlement?

There is a data point (1 of 3) in a +++ industrial settlement that I can not get to, how do I scan it. You can not go inside or you get attached by sentries.

I was on the outside right where it is suppose to be (according to a map I found a link to in one of the threads that pertain to scanning for MEF), but my SRV would never pick it up. I even pointed the turret up to the top of the wall and went all along the wall in that area and I could never pick it up.

This is Crown Settlement is on Anamundi in Delkar.

Depending on how far inside the trespass zone it is, you can zip in, scan it and zip out again.

If you have 3 or 5 to scan, do the ones inside the base first, then the easy ones last.



Same goes for scooping cargo from POIs.

Just zip across the trespass zone with your hatch open, scoop some cargo, then exit the other side.
Then turn around and come back do the the same again.

Skimmers are dumb.

I can't because every time I go in the security door slams shut and there is no way out so I just sit there getting shot at by sentries until I eventually blow up!

Well, that's unfortunate.

My trick is usually to do that particular one last then.
Scan the data point, finish the mission or collect the data, then let them kill you and respawn in your ship. Lol
If you don't want to do this, try and kill everything inside the building, then work your way up to the roof, and jump off.
Then run like a bat out of hell for about 2.5km, then recall your ship. Bring materials to repair yourself. Lol
On low gravity planets, I usually ignore the doors and just jump over the walls. Lol

Remember to dismiss your ship first, otherwise it may come under fire.

Ii had one where the DP was inside a square where the access tunnel blocked after you went in. Had to combat log (well, SCV-trapped log) then found I could reach that DP by jumping past a closed force-field at another part of the base, zip around on top of the wall to the enclosed DP until I could scan it. I can't remember how many tries it took to complete scanning the lot but it was not a quick result. (It wasn't even for a mission, just on the hunt for engineer data.) Only thought of doing that after watching some youtube vids of similar.

Blow up all the defenses from your ship or the power generator if you can find it.

You can either do this:

i scan it from the outside, the closest point from outside the exclusion zone to the data point

Or, depending on the layout, jump your way out (start watching at 5:30):

Actually the data point that I could not get to was the one he scanned in the first part of the video right after he climbed the wall. The one he scanned on the ground inside I was able to scan from outside the wall right on the other side of the data point.

I just did one of those, but in the Beta. I demolished all defences first, then blew up the generator that triggered the gate. After that I had plenty of time to drive around, back through the gate, scan and get out again. So yeah, not the easiest to accomplish but it can be done. In the beta you can make a decent assault with a fighter while your main ship holds anywhere under 30 K away and then when all defences are broken, bring it closer, dock with it, land and mosey on over at your lesure in the SRV.
