How to select items in the galmap system popup in VR?

Ok, so I know how to navigate around the galmap using keybindings instead of the mouse. Have no issues selecting a system.
But once a system is selected, all I can do is target it. How do you select other options in the popup window, like the route plotter, trade data, etc. ?

I've looked through the galmap options, and am only seeing items for controlling movement, but nothing for selecting specific things.
Same thing goes for the left hand panel. Can't figure out how to get the cursor over there to type in a system name without using the mouse (and the mouse is useless)

For me it works to use the buttons mapped to arrow/cursor left and right.

Whenever I try that it ends up moving cursor off the selected system and the popup of course goes away.

Are you using the same key binds to move the map as to move the UI cursor?

You probably have both functions mapped to the same keys/buttons. I use a HOTAS, and I have the UI directional keys mapped to the hat switch on my joystick, but the mini-stick on the throttle is mapped to moving the view + star selection in the map. If you have those mapped to the same controls, that could be the problem.

Been away from the game for a bit, and didn't get to check this out until last night.

My problem was a mapping problem as described. I think the majority of my confusion was because I was trying to figure out how to set it up under the galmap controls heading, when it's not there. It's under the separate ui control heading.

Seems obvious after the fact, but until you know, it's a bit of a head scratcher.
