How to select water

I haven't run across this issue before, but I just made a sea lion habitat with lots of stuff in the water. The problem is when I go to select the water to change its clarity I can't select the water, just the various rocks and plants in it. Is there a surefire way to click on just the water in a habitat?

In the terrain editor menu there's a button to select water. I think it's next to the button for placing water.

Do you click the water surface from above? If you are inside the water it doesn't count.

Yes I click from above, but the problem is it still selects the things under the surface, which becomes a problem if there is no place to click on the surface where something isn't underneath it. Aramar's suggestion was correct, though, so many thanks! I knew there had to be a place to select water without simply clicking on it, but I hadn't noticed that menu before. Now I can change my sea lions' water clarity.
