Does anyone know how to tell if the thing we found in a POI circle is actually the interesting point? At the moment, I've been using uncollected material to mark my trail, then flying up after every every 'thingo' and seeing if the circle disappears. At first I thought it was buildings, but I found several in various POI's, and the circles didn't vanish. Then I thought it was data points, but I just found two nav beacons and an SRV wreck, but the point is still there. Surely there's be something I'm missing. Or is going back up over 2km the only way to check?

No, they vanish when you find the right one. There are usually a half dozen things to investigate in a POI circle, and sometimes the circle vanishes after I find one, sometimes it takes many.
Right now you gotta go back up to be sure. I'm not aware of any other way. I didn't think the Blue went away just because you found the whatever, but I can't say that fer sure. I have not noticed them vanishing but maybe I didn't find all the easter eggs in the circle.
The one I was in when writing the thread, I found two nav beacons, a flashing beacon near a garage type thing, and two pirate caches. This time, it was the last and smallest pirate cache that made it vanish.
