How to unignore materials

I was having great success farming Selenium and Manganese among others from my ship with flak from brain trees. Maxed out manganese and selenium. Set them on ignore so the limpets would get the other stuff around. Went and traded down so I have none. Went back, and I can collect zirconium but never selenium or manganese. Everything I read says you have to see the material in contacts to select and unignore it, but I don't ever see materials now in Contacts, even as the limpets go get the material. So I can't unignore them because no materials ever show up in contacts, only my limpets (and other ships) show up. Am I bugged?

Thanks to the exceptional UI designed by Frontier, the way you ignore/unignore something is to check it in the contact list. Even if something is ignored, you should still see it in the contact list, but, you can't change the status of something unless it is within your physical presence.

I thought I edited this to put the answer in :) I figured it out, it's terrible. I tried putting the ship's nose down on the ground to target the material but can't in the Conda. Had to get in an SRV, shoot trees till found a manganese and selenium drop, so that I could pick them in contacts to remove them from ignore list. Pretty terrible. I googled and found lots of people asking the same question.

Now I'm back to flak farming.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Meta.

Something to note on this for next time: limpets will always ignore materials you're full on without needing to be told, and then go back to picking them up again if you stop being full, so you don't need to mark them as ignored manually.
This ^^^^^!

The only things that need to be on the ignore list are cargo items.

If you have multiple limpets out and one fils a material store while the other is on the way back with the same material that limpet will be out of action for the rest of its brief existence.

I have a bunch of items on ignore from back in the VoidOpal/LTD mining days. A simple menu item in the Inventory to un-ignore would be nice. I'm not going out to laser some random rings and stare at my contacts screen to get my stuff back.

To add to all this.
If all your remaining limpets are full of materials because the bin was filled by the first limpet.
Turn off then back on again the Controler limpets in modules priority tab.
This will destroy the limpets but will free them up to be redeployed.
