How to use comms panel?

Can some explain to me how to use the comma panel, I'm hVibg some issues?

I can activate the panel by pressing '2' and anything I type gets pushed out on the local channel, but how do I tab across to the other tabs? I can see I have several messages on the envelope icon but I can't work out how to tab across, every key only seems to type in the local message, and then I am left with no choice but to press ESC to come backout?

Press 2 to focus on the comms panel and then use Q or E to cycle through the tabs.
Pressing 'Tab" will change the Local chat to private messages to whoever sent you one last.

This is still not working for me? I press 2 to focus but if I press 'q' or 'e' they simply type in the local broadcast???? Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

the odd thing 'q' and 'e' tab through my other menus, but not the comms one?

Quit game to main menu and go to controls options. In there you should be able to bind your own keys to any functions you're having problems with.
Not done this exact change myself, I've just mainly altered targeting and shortcut keys.

Pressing escape on the keyboard will get you get to the tabs and then the next / previous tab keys work.

My problem is that it has to be escape on the keyboard...the joystick button I've got assigned to escape seems to register as a double escape.

Sorry misread your post...you already knew that. I've also found the option to not give the input line focus when the comms panel opens.
