Newcomer / Intro How to use FSD Injector?

How do you actually use (inject?) the FSD Injector after manufacturing one?

I have made several at this point (yes I know they do not stack) but my jump range hasn't changed. When I go into the internal panel it shows that it went from 60ly to 100ly, but when I plot a route the jump to the next star is only 60ly, not 100 even though I set the FSD boost slider in the galaxy map up to the second notch (in accordance with the FSD Injection grade I made).

I suppose that makes sense as it matches with my experience.

But then I am not sure what the purpose is of the FSD Boost slider in the galaxy map route planner. I am not referring to the neutron jump option, but the actual slider that allows you set FSD Boost to 1, 2, or 3 notches. Is this not used to calculate a route? And if not, what it it's purpose and how do you use it?

It will just show stars in range of one boosted jump.
Ok, I think I see now.

You cannot actually plan a route using FSD Boost as it is only for a single jump not for actually calculating an entire route where the first jump has the extended range.. Likewise you have to use the slider for the galaxy map to show you your new extended range, as it will not automatically show you your new extended jump range.

That's correct. The blue spider lines only show what is actually currently achievable.

Interestingly, if you plot a route and ask it to include jet boosts then it will actually plot them in the route - it is just the jumponium synth boost that is an annoyance.

BTW - I assume you know that if you click again in the fastest route radio button, the spider lines are not displayed.
