How to use tiled textures?

Hey,
just a quick question. How do we use tiled textures? Do we still need to uv unwrap the model to apply the texture?
 
Not sure what you mean with tiled textures? Can you elaborate?

A texture that can be repeated. For instance if i want to texture a wall. I dont need to use a 1024x1024 texture to texture it. I could use a 128x128 texture that can be repeated. You know what i mean?
 
Absolutely possible. At least in Blender (which I use).

In Blender all you have to do is rescale the size of your UV-maps in "UV/Image editor" so that your lowres texture fits into your wall several times.

Not sure about 3Ds Max or Maya tho.

you mean like this? Do i have to repeat the texture manually or does PC arrange it?
 
Look at this example:

in both Blender and Planet Coaster, the texture map will automatically repeat itself if the selected face covers more than the texture's initial size.
