How to view my hull damage/integrity?

Hi folks,

I've been having a blast shooting pirates, and been wondering how to see hull strength while I'm out there. Today I had a few fights and eventually won them all, but I heard the computer voice say I had hull damage. I think she said critical damage.

I decided I would try to kill another pirate which was a federal drop ship. I saw him kill one of the cops but I stupidly attacked anyway, and then he killed me pretty fast. All my computer screens went black, I heard what sounded like glass breaking, and then my ship blew up! It was pretty awesome actually.

So now I'm back to wondering, which menu can I see my hull strength? I would like to figure it out so I can tell when to go back to the station for repairs.

Thanks for any advice.

Your hull damage is shown in the HUD, under the representation of your ship. Shields are shown as circles around the ship, hull strength / damage is the percentage underneath.

Integrity is a whole different thing and not really relevant. You can only see your hull integrity when you go to advanced maintenance in a station, however, integrity at 0% is still the equivalent of your hull being at 70% strength and is not the same as your hull being damaged, so your hull can be at 100% but 0% integrity and you will be fine. TL : DR don't worry about integrity.

Okay understood, I'll look for that percentage. I didn't know the HUD could be disabled, it's down there I just don't know how to read it very well.

On a related note, today I accidentally shot a good guy and got a bounty. So I decided to go back to the space station and pay the bounty, but then everyone attacked me and I died.

So now I've bought my ship back but of course I'm not sure I want to go to that station again. Where do I go to pay my bounty?

PS - The reason I went to that station was that the little message on the bounty said I could pay it at pretty much any station.

You can't go to the station when you're wanted. The police will scan you and then shoot you unless you sneak in without them seeing you, but even if you get in, you can't do anything other than hand yourself in and go to jail. Instead, you have to go to a low security system and find the interstellar factor in any station, who will clear your bounty, then you can go back.

Okay I'm back in the game, but I can't figure out how to tell which systems are low security. Is there an easy way to tell that?

I'm scared of jumping around system to system because I'm worried I'll run out of gas before I figure it out.

In the G-map you can set a filter to show the security level of systems. Also while you are charging the FSD and during the countdown The state of the system is shown and your status in that system, on the info screen at the top of the HUD view. That gives you a short opportunity to cancel the jump.
