ED is a game that I'll keep on playing. Hopefully FD will keep on working at it.

I laughed, and I love the game. The launch trailer was very over-the-top marketing like almost every game has, they provided more "cinematic" versions of things that may happen in the game but that doesn't exactly translate into full authenticity which can of course leave some people annoyed. But anyone who buys a game solely based on a launch trailer is... kind of setting themselves up for disappointment. Especially with the plethora of actual gameplay footage available out there via YouTube and other sources.
My main gripe with the parody is that the combat can actually be very intense, but for the sake of the Supercruise joke we didn't see any of it and he just kept flashing "None of this will happen to you" on the screen.
Oh they understand. It's just a cheap easy shot because some people are like that. Haters will always hate...it's what they do. I'd love to hear what they think of the Blizzard cinematic trailers...some of the best in the industry. They're always so highly anticipated and people love them. I don't remember anyone saying "What a ripoff, StarCraft isn't anything like that!", lol.
It has nothing to do with being "cinematic".
The trailer paints the game as a frenetic action shooter and that's plainly not true. A more paused trailer, also highlighting exploration and trading, would be more truthful to ED, but I guess that wouldn't sell the game so well.

and there's the rub - I paid £50 and have had £500 worth of fun - already...

i work for the railroad ya know? funny tho that the 'tuber used a hauler, not exactly the most, mhhh...agile and awe inspiring craft out there and yeah, the trailer sure is cinematic and hollywood-ish but the parody of it was fun nonetheless. me for one, i still have fun in that game, playing it, and in the end that's all that truly matters for me.

What baffles me is people who come to the game expecting and wanting frantic combat action... who then seem to spend all their time supercruising around before coming on the forums and moaning about it. I spent an entire night doing nothing but fighting yesterday, only supercruise time was a few hundred LS to various stations in the three systems I was using to repair, resupply and collect missions from and when I was setting up interdictions (which is fun). I was fighting at nav points, warzones, pulling ships out of cruise, bounty hunting, pirating... all of it. People are weird sometimes.
