How well have you used your Dlc?

Simple question, but looking back, eventhough i own all Dlc i gotta admit i catch myself looking at some and still havent used stuff from them, so i wanna ask, how much bang did you all got for your back per each dlc?
Deluxe: Ive used the komodo monitor twice and the hippo, no interest whatsoever in the thompson gazelle though. 3 uses for 3 animals is pretty good though, so 3/10

Arctic: Confession Time, this Dlc was great cash money. Not only have i build for every animal atleast once and the reindeer even twice, the arctic wood set is great, with the arctic beams being easily among my most used pieces. The walls and roof are also great for some old sheds and stables and i especally like the flat wood carvings which are great to decorate those, with the double cross one being my favorite as my go to frame for climbing plants aka ivy as we got nothing else. Shame that it isnt flexicolor, but for what it is its awesome, 9/10

South America: Decent, i again used each Animal atleast once, with the lama and anteater both also been unsed a second time. Its also one of the few packs where i actually got use out of the exhibit, as the frog fixes the heart to see part by being colorfull and sticking to the glass, aswell as being easily able to decrease the exhibit size with pieces without running the risk of making it look weird as you cut animals in half. The bamboo pieces are also pretty nice and get used from time to time, but a lot less then before. Surprisingly i have used the capuchin only once, which mostly can be explained by my personal distaste for them in particular as kinda boring and their annoying noises, but not a bad pick, just one i will propaply use even less as we finally get more desired options. 7/10

Australia: The first underused pack, i used the skink, kangaroo and koala once each and the scenery is also mostly barely used besides the very pretty wall and utilitarian roof set. 4/10

Aquatic: Interesting case. I used seal, caiman and terrapin once each, BUT the faux rock might be my most used piece period especally when we take out plants of the equation. That being said while there are other good pieces in the scenery and especally the hydrillia plant is godly for natural looking underwater moats, it feels wrong to give the pack a super high rating when "all" ive been using from it was one rock set, so a 7/10 feels fair

SEA: I hate this pack with a passion, but i actually have used every single animal from it as it even was my first pack back in the day as i started the game shortly after it released with an asia section as my first. That being said i have only used the dhole and babirusa twice, but still i got my money worth id say ironically. 7/10
Africa pack: Another surprisingly low one. I have used the meerkats twice and i would easily rank them as one of the most usefull animals in the game and while i have used the penguin once i havent used the other 3. For the scenery this pack has a vast array of usefull pieces like the wood, rope and tiles, but its not a go to set for me, more a random grabback of smaller stuff, which isnt bad and id defenetly would not want to miss it but also nothing essential. 5/10

North America Pack: Lets see what have i used from this pack? I used the prariedog. Nice. And i used it again....yeah this one really wasnt cash money for me. I technically have started building for the arctic fox at some point and got plans for beavers and have considerd both the moose and alligator before but eh. Im giving it a 2/10 cause i love the prariedog and would use them again, but propaply atleast at this point among the worst buys for me.
This pack also marks the point where i started my newest zoos, so any animal of this did not get the opportunity to be used more then once.

Europe Pack: Now for the opposite, i have used the badger, lynx and fallow deer but whats really important here are the plants. I use outside of tropical houses allmost exclusivly asian and europe plants with the tundra, taiga, grassland, temperate and aquatic taggs and this pack was a game changer in that regard. By now im spoiled in choice for plants from my favorite tags and this was the biggest boost in them and i use them literally all regulary. The scenery is also very neat, especally the stone wall, but the plants are really what carrys this pack for me. 7/10

Wetlands: The most recent animal pack i got good use out of. I used every animal except the platypus and the exhibit and i would use every single one again. The biggest compliment i can give this pack is that it has the only animal past the North America pack that i used twice, as my zoo has two different capybara habitats and might even have that happen again as im currently feeling like moving the nile lechwe out of my big savannah habitat and building them a neat habitat on their own as an aquatic antelope is just that cool and has so many more interesting habitat possibilitys then the others. I even activly choose the spectacled caiman over both the cuviers dwarf and an albino alligator, not cause they are newer but because i genuinly like them the most of the three. Good pack, i would use all of these guys again, win for wetlands. 8/10

Conservation: When this came out i had no idear how essential it would become. I used both the siamang and the horse, but thats not important here. This building set is godly. Literally the best. Theres no other building set i specifically look up regulary besides this one as i use parts from it in literally every single build these days. Wood? God tier. Props? God tier. Veggies? God tier. Flowers? some of my favorite pieces in the game. Other plants? Also pretty good. Id give this a pack a 10/10 for the scenery alone but as i only have used 2 of the animals with no plans for the rest or desire to reuse those that i allready have, ill drop it down to a 9/10

Twillight: When was the last time i used all habitat animals of a pack? The freacking SEA pack. Does this pack have flaws? Yes but for how much i used it its great. Its also the third most significant spike for my plant selection and got some very neat stone walls and metall pieces, aswell as nice wood. Not one of my go to sets but more then usefull enough. 7/10

Grasslands: This pack is great, imo one of the first packs any newbie should get but for my personal use? Ehhhh. To its credit, i absolutly love the wallaby and emu, i rushed in to build for them and i would do it again and i also build for both the armadillo and the butterflys, but id be lying if i said i had much interest in the other 4 animals. Not cause they are bad, i even thought about building for each of them, but they all just do not stand out to me as more interesting then other animals. If i want to build for antelopes, i build for others then the wilderbeast, same for cats, hyeanas and canids. None of these are bad, its simply the consequence of roster bloat for these categorys of animals where im just by now not really feeling them as i allready have build multiple cat, canid and antelope habitats and would rather do something different i havent done before. Ironically, after grasslands was when i really started using all the wetlands animals as they really scratched that itch of something different. 4/10

Tropical: Great pack, great scenery, awesome foliage, defenetly not my type of animals. I actually build a red river hog habitat shortly before and filled it with warthogs and never swapped them out of spite. Technically i got the lar gibbons but mostly i just put in multiple colormorphs with the siamangs and never botherd to remove them. Didnt help that it came out shortly after my tropical house roster was decided on with no more room left, with especally the fossa suffering from that as i got lemures but no space for the fossa near them. I also have rather build a faux habitat for very sleepy two toed sloths instead of engaging with the terrible WE so i think that also says quite a bit about my feelings regarding the sloth. Scenery is kinda neat though. 2/10

Arid: 1/10. I have only used the dhamas gazelle so far despite playing alot since its out cause the whole pack is pretty much the opposite of inspiring to me. I liked the dhamas, never thought id get them so they got a honorary spot in my savannah habitat, but realisticly any antelope can fill that.

Oceania: I used the quokka as a stand in for the bettong, mild interest in a devil habitat which wont fit because of space reasons, no desire for the rest. Scenery is neat but not groundbreaking, eventhough i do love the thatch walls. 2/10

And a small ranking for readability:

1. Arctic (9/10)
2. Conservation (9/10)
3. Wetlands (8/10)
4. Aquatic (7/10)
5. Europe (7/10)
6. South America (7/10)

Interesting topic! I'll go over mine in relevance to how often I can use them in my North american recreations, since that's all I build for, it also gives a different perspective compared to someone who just builds stuff for fun. This is not based on Foliage, to be fair I use so many it's hard to keep track of what belongs where.

Deluxe - So we have komodo dragons, Pygmy Hippo, and thomsons gazelle. These 3 are heavily used in very much every zoo I build although the Pygmy Hippo is the least used to be fair. Komodo dragons are quite common for reptile areas and tropical houses while the gazelles are in every single mixed savanna habitat there is, often in substitution for other gazelle species. The community seriously under rates how important gazelles are for realistic african areas. 8/10 for subpar use of Pygmy hippo.

Arctic - Funnily enough I have never got the chance to use reindeer, and san diego got rid of theirs so I have yet to even use them. The other animals make an appearance often enough but the lack of dedicated cold climate animalsmin most zoos does limit this. So in reality I have used Polar bears twice, dall sheep twice for substation for mountain goat and Arctic wolves (as a the right species) once. I don't really use the Arctic scenery that much apart from measuring distances since they are the first pieces they appear in the list for me. 5/10 due to the lack of realistic options for me to use the pack often enough.

South America - So this is a very well used pack used very extensively for 3 out of my 4 public recreations. The scenery is very versatile for both South american and Asian areas, its not the best quality but the bamboo walls and temple bricks are extremely useful. The animals are favourites of mine with jaguar, Capuchin monkeys and anteaters being used quite often. Llama often appears in petting zoos though. 10/10 for its usefulness.

Australia - Well this is rather obvious, australia is the barebones of any Australian themed area. Although I will say the dingo has never been used because I think that's really only a regional animal for real zoos. The koala and kangaroo are used as often as possible, although competition with the newer wallaby does mean the kangaroo is less used. Exhibit Lizard is useful for making more diverse reptiles houses as we will never have enough. Scenery is decent, the corrugated metal is useful and the metal Beams and Rods are used virtually everywhere. 8/10 due to never having a reason to use the dingo.

Aquatic - Ah the community's cherished dlc, the aquatic pack is semi useful I'll admit. I have used every animal at least once, all used as correct species in the zoo which doesn't happen very often with these odd roster packs. The Dwarf Caiman is the most used as it appears as either in children's zoos or in african areas replacing the Dwarf Crocodile (which I would have vastly preferred). The scenery is fantastic, the stained wood and faux rocks are some of the most common scenery pieces I use. 10/10 for everything used.

Southeast Asia - It's far from my favourite dlc with all these odd animals thrown together which is really difficult to use for a recreation. I can't blame not using the animals though, I've only not used the dhole, which I never expect to see a use for. Sun bears, binturong and malayan tapir are common to see in my builds. I only use big nose monkey for substituting the lack of other Asian monkeys. 7/10 I guess since only the dhole was never used and the leopard just once because its awful jumping bug.

Africa - Oh no not Africa, the base game has so many animals!?!? - person who has never visited a zoo in the past 50 years. This pack has some of the most essential animals out of all dlc packs. Meerkats, white rhino, and African penguins are extremely common and there's a reason I didn't start doing recreations full time until this came around. Fennec Fox and the beetle are cool enough and used a couple times. Scenery is wonderful as well, the plaster pieces are very useful. 10/10 easily.

North America - My favourite pack 😁 every single animal minus the moose has been used extensively especially the cougar. As I specialise in North american zoos, North american animals are used quite often. 9/10 since moose never been used.

Europe - Never used the fallow deer or European badger, not at all useful for a north american zoo. The alpine Ibex (female) is great for petting zoo goats while the eurasian lynx is great for general lynx or bobcat habitats. The scenery is subpar really, the assorted European scenery and wall sets are rarely used due to better alternatives. 3/10 as a lackluster scenery pack.

Wetlands - Capybara, otters, capybara, otters!!!! Cuteness aside, the pack is about half used. Platypus and nile lechwe are likely never going to be used while I rarely use the newt as I prefer the fire salamander. The other animals like the crane, capybara and otters are very popular to use. 6/10 due to 2 animals not being used and others not really desirable.

Conservation - Those Wooden Slats, literally my favourite building piece. Scenery is wonderful in this pack although I couldn't care less about all that gardening stuff as I don't have the need to build backstage areas because my zoos are so large it seems a waste of time. Siamang, amur leopard and axolotl have all been used multiple times, while the rest will never see the light of day. 8/10 because wooden slats.

Twilight - Not sure how to feel with this one honestly. The fruit bats and wombat have been the only animals I have used with the bats being limited with the problems of the walkthrough exhibit. The scenery pieces are not bad, the shingle roof and Masonry wall pieces are useful. 4/10 since the wombat is so adorable.

Grasslands - Maned wolf, caracal, emu, wallaby and butterflies all been used. Can't see myself using the rest. The emu and wallaby complete the need for most Australian areas, the Maned wolf is so fun to watch and the caracal is digital floppa. Butterflies are tricky as they look great but the size of the exhibit again prevents me from adding smaller butterfly rooms. 7/10 since it's one of the better animal packs.

Tropical - Never going to be using the sloth or monitor, the only animal I have built for is the fossa. The potential for the lar gibbons and red river hog is great with these animals often appearing in species lists of future zoos. The scenery is pretty good with another set of new wood planks and a wonderful brick wall extremely useful for realistic buildings that need flexicolor brick. 6/10 for potential.

Arid - Well I don't like this pack in particular really. I have used the porcupine twice now, black rhino and wild ass once. I know I'll be using the Dromedary camel before the next spring dlc so again potential. The dama gazelle is good for drier gazelle habitats that require another species than thomsons and I can't see myself using the sand cat or addax. The viper as always is useful for reptile houses. 5/10 for the lack of diversity.

Oceania - I wanted the devil, I got the devil. The rest? Couldn't care less unless I can find somewhere that actually keeps any of the other animals. The scenery is good, I like the surfboards, wooden planks and new rocks but ehhhh. 4/10 for giving me the devil.

Deluxe:
Barley used it, i only build for the komodo once and stopped half way. If were talking "bang for your buck" this is EASY the worst because its way to expensive for 3 animals.

Arctic:
Eh also just used the reindeer once or twice i think. The wall, roof and wooden beams are neat and i used the quite a bit, especially in the earlier days.
Cant really see myself building for any of them agian.

South america:
I used the capuchin alot, and the llama and anteater also found their way into my zoos more than once. The jaguar is the only one i never touched so far and dont plan to. Didnt get much use out of the scenery so far besides the bamboo sticks.

Australia:
Got to use the kangaroo, koala and cassowary. The scenery is surprisingly versatile imo and i got much use out of the corregated roof. Idk when i would ever use the dingo honestly.

Aquatic:
Used everything besides the otter multiple times. And i use the wallset really often. And dont get me started on the faux rocks, they go into basicly every single build.
Cut the otter from my current SA section due to space, so it will be a while until i will consider them again.

South east asia:
Proboscis monkey i used more than once, also build for babirusa and binturong. The rest i didnt touch so far.
Sun bear i will certainly use one day. Unsure about the rest.

Africa:
Used every single animal, and the penguin and meerkat are among my favorites in game. Really usefull scenery and i expect to make even more use of it in my egyptian zoo.

North America:
Sea lion and prairie dogs are among my favorites and will probably go into every zoo i make. The fox and beaver i both used once. Havent found use for the rest so far. But i can see myself building for the alligator. For the moose and cougar not so much.

Europe:
Build for badger, deer and ibex once each. Made great use of the scenery, great pieces that i use alot. And the decals are also going into every build.
The lynx i will probably build for eventually

Wetlands:
Build for caiman and capybara recently and also used the buffalo and crane before.
Platypus will surely go into the future australia area of my zoo. Otter will certainly be used one day aswell and i plan a nile river section in my current zoo that will also house the lechwe.

Conervation:
Used all besides the leopard so far.
Amazing scenery, which i use alot.
Idk if i will use the leopard some day.

Twilight:
Used raccon, bat and skunk so far. Found much use of the scenery, especially the wood and stone pieces.
Wombat and fox will probably be build for one day.

Grasslands:
Despite probably being my favorite animal pack i only used the armadillo and wallaby so far. Have plans to build for the maned wolf soon tho. And i will certainly use the rest some day aswell.

Tropical:
Build for all besides the hog. And found much use for the the scenery, wall set is my favorite .
Will certainly use the hog once i get to my african rainforest area that i have planned.

Arid:
Build for the porcupine, camel and sand cat.
But since im currently building an egyptian zoo the gazelle, addax and donkey will certainly find their way in. Idk when i would ever chose the black over the white rhino tho

Oceania:
Build for the devil, kiwi and bat so far.
Scenery is pretty cool and i used it quite a bit so far.
Will probably build for the qoukka one day but i cant see myself ever building for the penguin.

Not really gonna rank them since the "What have i used the most" and "What do i like the most" would probably be quite different.
Aswell as naturally i have gotten more ise of the older packs so far simply because they are older, and therefore i had more time to use it.

Really surprised that you haven't used the meerkats even once. They feel like such a zoo mainstay to me. Aswell as that you haven't used either of the african rhinos, I understand only using 1 but you get my point. Africa pack is one that I use constantly.

I used the meerkat twice they are very much awesome
For the rhinos they are just kinda boring and i much prefer the indian rhino both in looks and actual habitat design due to them loving water.

Also overall rhinos run into the problem that they need a larger build to do them justice, so its harder to just slap them in.
I propaply will build for them one day but so far they just didnt standout next to giraffes, elephants and other large animals that i so far chose instead of them just cause they are the least interesting of this high effort group

It's interesting to see how everyone has different preferences! I only started playing this game this summer, so I haven't had the chance to try all the species yet. But I tried a bunch and definitely have my favorites :)
  • Conservation Pack - is my personal favorite, and I think it will be hard to beat. I've been obsessed with horses ever since I can remember, so Przewalski is my number one animal in the game. Additionally, I love the Axolotl and Oryx. I also used Siamang and I prefer it over the gibbon, so it may be my favorite primate in the game so far. I'm still about to build for the Amur leopard and am excited to do this. Scenery pieces from this DLC are my favorite, too. And the lovely plants. This pack is, for me, a solid 10/10.
  • Europe pack - I tried all the animals and LOVE them all—especially the ibex, the lynx, and the badgers. Fallow deer are adorable, and I love Fire Salamanders because I often saw them in the mountains as a kid. I also use the scenery pieces from this pack a lot. Super nice, 9/10
  • Grasslands - I used Maned Wolves a lot, and also emus and wallabies, they are fantastic. Butterflies are lovely too, such an excellent idea. I still need to try out the caracal, striped hyena, wildebeest, and armadillo, all of which are high on my priority list. The animals are very good quality and fun. Although I only tried 8 out of 12 species, this would be an 8/10 pack in my books.
  • South America - I tried all of the animals because I built a dedicated zoo for this region. Jaguar is one of my favorite big cats in the game. Llamas are hilarious and I also love the anteater. The scenery pieces are fine too. The whole thing would score 8/10 for me.
  • North America - I tried Moose, Alligator, Sea Lions, and Prairie Dogs. They are wonderful animals. I especially enjoy the moose. I want to build for Cougar and, the Arctic Foxes soon. Beavers sound fun but they will have to wait, I didn't feel inspired to use them yet. I tried 4 out of 8 animals but it's also a 7/10 set.
  • Oceania - Just after release I decided I needed to build a dedicated Oceanian Zoo. So it included all animals from this set. My big favorites from this DLC are Kiwis and Devils. Quokkas are cute, bats are okay, and penguins aren't bad, but they are not my favorites. The building pieces and statues are beautiful. I hope to find a place for Kiwis in my other zoos too. I'm obsessed with the plants from this DLC. Overall, it's a 7/10 set.
  • Arid - I tried nearly all of them except for the sand cat (but I want to try building for these little guys too). Somali Wild Ass, Dromedaries, Porcupines, and Addax are my favorites from this group—all super beautiful animals. I understand why the gazelle may not be very exciting for some, but I still like them. And they are easy to add in mixed habitats. It's one of my favorite sets and also scores 7/10
  • Twilight - The wombat is the one animal I try to add to each of my zoos because I decided I need a Franchise Zoo mascot, so to speak. I like the raccoons and skunks but rarely use them. I built for foxes once and it was fun, they are wonderful. Bats are okay. Building pieces are fine too, I use them quite a bit—another one in the line of 7/10 sets.
  • Wetlands - I tried Capybaras(fantastic), platypus (hard to build for), Caimans (kind of meh), Buffalos (nice), and Newts. I also want to try out the Nile Lechwe and the Cranes sometime soon. It's a 6/10 in my opinion.
  • South East Asia - this set contains some of my favorite species but I still need to try any of them in the game. Hearing people complaining about the Malayan tapir made me anxious it may be a bit of disappointment. Still, I can't wait to try out Malayan Bears, Binturongs, and Clouded Leopard. Tried 0 of this DLC yet but I estimate it will be at least a 6/10 pack.
  • Tropical - I tried the sloth, red river hogs, and gibbons. Fossa is high on my list of animals to try. I enjoy the Red River Hogs a lot. Gibbons are okay. Sloths are one of my favorite animals in real life but the WE is so-so, it gets boring in a minute. Monitors I don't need at all, are not my thing. I like that this set added Rafflesia plants! I guess it's 6/10 for this set too.
  • Australia - I tried them all, I love the Koalas, Kangaroos, and Cassowaries especially. I like the building pieces too, maybe they are not the most useful in an average zoo but they are excellent for their own theme. My problem with this set is how these animals have such low appeal point scores for the visitors. They are such amazing species, but many score lower than cockroaches, at least according to the zoo guests. How? Why? I think for me it's still a 7/10 DLC.
  • Arctic - I need to try any of the animals from this DLC. I'm very excited to try the reindeer and the Dall sheep especially. I hope to start a dedicated Tundra+Taiga zoo in December so they are definitely coming. The scenery pieces are quite useful in my parks. I would also say a 6/10, but I can't confirm before trying out any of the animals.
  • Aquatic - I love the Giant Otters, they are so much fun! The Grey Seals are very cute but glitchy. I also built for Caimans but they aren't very exciting in my opinion. I still need to try the penguins but I would say they are low priority for me. Scenery pieces including rocks and wood walls are SUPER useful. Overall 6/10 score.
  • Africa - I like the White Rhino and it's easy to combine with other Savanna animals. I also tried the meerkats, but they aren't very exciting for me; maybe they are a bit overrated. I didn't try any of the remaining animals but they are a low priority for me. I like the plants and enrichment items from this set. The scenery is fine but nothing I really needed. I guess I'm among a minority of players who aren't too excited about this DLC. And I love Arid Pack a lot more. Africa DLC would be 5/10 at most.
  • Deluxe - I love the pigmy hippo and it's the only animal from this set I have in any of my zoos. Maybe I will try the other two later on. If this set were cheaper I would give it a higher score but as it is it's 3/10.

I have one zoo per continent that matches theme and animals. Bonus zoos are my New world zoo with NA and SA animals, Old World zoo of random africa, europe and Asia. India zoo with animals found in India and SEA. Separate Zoos for Canids, Felids, ursine/pinniped and reptiles. Potentially might start a bird zoo.
Deluxe: I use the Komodo dragons a lot
Arctic: sometimes use the scenic pieces for my zoos such as my canid, NA and Eu zoos. I use the animals a lot but struggle with the polar bears.
SA: I have only used the stone wall Scenary for my SA zoo that was made to look like a Mayan temple that isn’t in ruins. The bamboo style I have not used much at all. I use the animals frequently.
AU: I like the style and I have only used it for my Australian zoo. I have used the cassowaries for other zoos of mine. The dingo I have used for my canid zoo and the skink for my reptile zoo. The other animals are great but I just don’t use them outside of my Australian zoo.
Aquatic: I’ve used the Scenary here and there but nothing notable. The animals nothing of note.
SEA: for my Asian zoo, Indian zoo and in zoos specific to what animals. I use them frequently.
North Africa: my African Savannah/desert biome zoo uses this theme and I’m still working on areas to add more Scenary to. I use the fennec foxes a lot.
NA: my favorite animal dlc and I use the animals a lot where appropriate.
EU: so so. My Europe zoo has mostly classic style to it and in areas I use the EU theme but not heavily. Use the lynx more than the others.
Wetlands: i use the animals in their respected zoos, mostly just use the Asian animals for multiple zoos.
Conservation: most of my feline zoo uses the green theme. I am unable to make backstage stuff like most of you creative builders. I use the animals frequently.
Twilight: very little. A section of my Europe zoo has twilight architecture. Some of my canid zoo has twilight architecture but isn’t dominate over other builds. I use the red foxes a lot and I have a fox habitat that has many different color morphs.
GL: where appropriate I put animals and I’d say I use the manned wolf the most. All of my continental zoos have butterfly’s.
Tropic: I reworked my Asian zoos SEA section with the tropic theme, still a work in progress. I really only like the Red River hogs and will use them more in The future.
Arid: my least favorite animal dlc. All the animals went to my North African dlc, where as the sand cat also went to my feline zoo, porcupine went to my Europe zoo and the dromodary went to Australia, the viper went to my reptile zoo. Other than those I don’t care very much for the others.
OC: so far I’ve only used this theme as a new section of my Australia zoo as well as the animals. I’ve been a bit busy since it came out so I have not truly embraced this theme.

Imma be honest, I don't even know. I have all of them, but I mix and match the animals/pieces so much. I don't remember what piece came from where.

In the case of animals, I'd say the following:
  • Deluxe
    • 3/10 - I really only use the komodo dragon regularly now. The gazelle a few times, pygmy hippo a few times
  • Arctic
    • 0/10 - I love the animals, but I almost never use them, which is a shame because they're very nice
  • South America
    • 9/10 - I use almost all, except the jaguar, quite often. And even then, I use the jaguar many times, but I use the rest way more often
  • Aquatic
    • 5/10 - depends on my mood. I am not good with semiaquatic habitats, and the only ones I use often are the otters, seals, and terrapins
  • Southeast Asia
    • 4/10 - it's not bad. I used to use these often, but now not as much. However, I still use the binturong and dhole every now and then
  • Africa
    • 7/10 - the fox, meerkat, and penguin I use quite a few times. I rarely use the rhino, though
  • North America
    • 10/10 - partially biased, but at the same time I just use these all the time, every animal EXCEPT the Arctic fox (because it just doesn't fill my needs like the red fox)
  • Europe
    • 8/10 - I'm surprised by how often I use the animals, in particular the deer. Actually, the deer alone makes up the majority of this pack's rating
  • Wetlands
    • 6/10 - the only ones I use often are the capybara, caiman, and crane. All are quite versatile for my builds
  • Conservation
    • 3/10 - I rarely use them. The siamang I use the most, but still, not often
  • Twilight
    • 9/10 - I use all the animals, minus the wombat, pretty regularly. They all are extremely useful
  • Grasslands
    • 9/10 - the maned wolf, butterflies, and armadillo alone make up this score. Not 10/10 because I don't use the others that often
  • Tropical
    • 5/10 - I enjoy the AWM the most, actually. I don't use the gibbon that much or the hog. But the others are used often
  • Arid
    • 6/10 - not a bad score for a seemingly badly received pack. I use the addax, porcupine, and camel a lot. The rest are seemingly forgotten by me, especially the gazelle and the cat
  • Oceania
    • 5/10 - the animals are mixed bags. I like the Tassie devil and the penguin a lot in particular

Great topic! Looking back to see plans for looking ahead as well if you want to get "more for your money's worth" so to speak, if so inclined. For reference, I've not played as much in the last 15 months as I did the first two and a half years, due to getting two puppies last August. Up to that point - so through the Conservation packs' release - I used every animal at least once. I am still doing catch up on some animals from all the way back to Grasslands.

Deluxe - bought it for pre-launch Beta access and for the Komodo Dragon and it also had the separate soundtrack. Just talking the animals I use the pygmy hippo a lot as well. This pack was more expensive with less animals, but had non-animal features unique to it. But none of the animals are among those I rank highly in the game, so I guess I give this one a 5/10. I thought about ranking it lower, but I really appreciated having those ~2 weeks of beta to sort of both feed and satisfy the pre launch hype.

Arctic - One of my favorite scenery sets, I use it a lot. I also find myself using the Reindeer a lot, but the other animals not so much. - it's one of my least favorite rosters Polar Bear because of how much their upkeep and requirements are - since I'm mainly a franchise player, that stuff matters. Balancing out building versus animals though...for a zoo game my preference is almost always going to skew towards the animals, but this is the one time that's not the case. I use the scenery set that much that it justifies giving it a 7/10. Given I don't really use 3 of the 4 animals that often at all, I can't really justify ranking it higher.

South America - I have used all of the animals a good bit as well as the temple scenery. The thatch building set skews a bit stereotypical IMO so I don't use it that often anymore. While I like the later additions to the South American roster more than what's here, I still use the entire cast because of necessary representation from the continent. Giving this one a 7/10 as well as far as use - I'd actually rank it lower on a review score but I can't deny I've gotten my money's worth here.

Australia - I've well gotten my money's worth here. I use all but the dingo often, and I really like and use the metal building set a lot but also like the other scenery themes too. I rank this pack at the top of my list consistantly and I can't say enough good things about how I feel about it. 10/10 on this one.

Aquatic - Never was a big fan of the building set here, nor the animals anymore. The thing is I was using the Giant Otter and King Penguin until better options came later. The entire case is not one I use that often. But I do feel like I got my money's worth for sure, and would have ranked it higher right after it's release, but I can only give this one a 5/10 for how much I use it now.

Southeast Asia - 3 animals I almost never use (Prob. Monkey, Dhole and "Malayan" Tapir), 3 that I use regularly but not often (Babirusa, Binturong and Sun Bear) and the only one I use often has animation issues (the Clouded Leopard). I was never all that taken with the roster, and while I do feel like i got my money's worth, I can't give this one more than a 4/10.

Africa - Another of my favorite rosters here. I use all of the habitat animals often, including the meerkat that shows up in nearly every zoo I create. But I don't use the scenery set all that often, in fact it's one of my least favorite scenery sets. I give this one a 8/10 simply because the scenery set detracts from the 10/10 animal roster.

North America - Another favorite roster here, with it being another set of habitat animals i use frequently. I actually think I've used the Sea Lion the least but even that's in at least a handful of my zoos. This pack has no building pack to bolster it, but it also doesn't need it. 10/10 here.

Europe - A really solid building set, and a decent roster. I've used the Badger the most I think as they have a lot of versatility, and while i do like the rest of the roster I can't say that I use them often. Still, one of my other favorite building sets, so I will give a 8/10 out of how much use I have gotten out of it.

Wetlands - I use half of this set frequently and rarely use the other half. Still, the frequent use I've gotten out of the Capybara, ASCO and Playtpus versus the occassional use of the other four habitat animals does balance out the pack. It's actually my second favorite animal pack as well but more on that in a bit. I can't deny the value and use I've gotten out of the "big 3" from here, so I will give this a 7/10.

Conservation - While I rarely use the gridded building set I've gotten good use out of the backstage props items. The animals are a weird mix of use for me. As much as I wanted the Leopard, I rarely use them. I think maybe twice at most? The same for the Siamang. The P. Horse is the one I use the most out of this and I do use it frequently. And everyone don't look now but I - the anti-African Antelope person here- actually use the Oryx a decent amount as well. I give this one a 6/10. I almost went 7/10 but I just don't use the scenery/props enough.

Twilight - so my playing dropped significantly starting with this one, so I'm going to have to start putting the packs lower in terms of amount of use I've gotten. I haven't use either building/scenery theme that often at all, maybe even just fiddling around with it in a construction testing file. Just used the skunk for the first time recently, and only used the fox twice so far. Racoon has seen decent use but not frequent, while I would say that I've frequently used the Wombat. Still..ranking it out of use instead of quality? I can't give this one more than a 3/10, and the Wombat probably gives it one point boost at that.

Grasslands - Really wasn't that taken with the roster, and it's my 3rd place roster for Animal packs. I've used the Emu a good bit, and the Wallaby, Striped Hyena and Maned Wolf a decent amount. On the other hand I haven't used the Armadillo at all and it's entirely possible I never will. I have used the other three animals at least once though. Still..I wouldn't say I've used the pack that much as yet - so I will give this a 5/10 with the hope that the cost value increases in the future. I want to get more use of it, so there's that.

Tropical - I strongly dislike the building theme on this one and dont' think I've used more than a piece or two for it (it's drop dead last for building themes either base game or DLC). I haven't used the Fossa or Asian Water Monitor yet, but do want to, and I've only used the Gibbon once. RRH and Sloth are the winners here for me as I do use them a lot, particularly the Sloth. Still...value for the pack...I can't honestly give this one more than a 3/10.

Arid - As much as I was vocal about disliking most of the roster (aside from the amazing Porcupine of course), I've used it more than I thought I would. The Porcupine is the only animal released this year that I would actually say I've used "frequently". I have yet to us the Drama Gazelle or the Black Rhino, and have used the Addax and Sand Cat once. The Somalia Wild Ass and Dromedary have shown up a couple of times. LIke with the Grasslands pack, I want to get more use with it than I have, but right now I'd put this one at 5/10, with the Porcupine giving this a couple of "value stars" alone.

Oceania - I really like the pack overall - great theme, great roster, but I just haven't played enough in the last two months to judge it fairly. I do know that almost all of my play time has been in adding animals from this roster in (the rest taken up by the Porcupine and a smattering of other animals). Since I've most stuck with the roster I will give this one a 5/10. I really do feel like this is the pack I've given the the entire roster the most attention since Wetlands, if we take out pack "superstars" like the Porcupine, P, Horse, Sloth or Wombat. If I were rating it on just quality this would be very high up on the list, the fact is I just haven't put the time in on this one. But I absolutely know I want to.

Sorry, I didn’t want to include any rankings. I just wanted to state how often I use the content and my experience with it.

Anniversary Animals - I’ve used the lemur the most. It’s fit the most often within the zoos that I’ve made. I’ve only used the red deer once, and I haven’t gotten around to the peccary yet.

Deluxe - I’ve used the komodo dragon the most, but I’ve used the pygmy hippo and gazelle a couple of times.

Arctic - I’ve built a couple of arctic zoos, using all four animals. However, while I like the building pieces, they’re not my favorite sometimes. I remember at one point using the wood walls, the base game slate roofs, and the conservation grass squares to build a little Norwegian-style food court by my polar bears at one point.

South America - I’ve used them all very often.

Australia - I’ve also used these often.

Aquatic - I barely use the scenery at times, but I’ve utilized the animals a good bit in my South American and Arctic zoos/zoo areas.

Southeast Asia - It’s probably the animal pack that I have utilized the most, but I guess that’s just because it’s the animal pack that’s been around the longest.

Africa - I’ve used the animals quite often, but I really want to use the rhinoceros more. It’s one of my favorites in the game. Also, after the Arid Animal Pack was released, I built a desert zoo in which I exclusively used the North African theme. I also use the theme for small areas in my zoos themed to African deserts, so I’ve used it a good bit.

North America - I’ve used all of the animals, but I feel like I don’t use them enough.

Europe - I’ve used all the animals, but I never got a good grasp on copying the style of the scenery just right.

Wetlands - After this pack released, I made a commitment to start making a zoo for every new pack released. In the zoos that followed, a few of the animals fit into them, but not all of them.

Conservation - I don’t use the animals enough, but I still love them. I also enjoy blending the Conservation scenery pieces with other styles.

Twilight - I love the animal selection provided, but while I loved the twilight scenery, I never really find myself building any small European villages. I really do want to start building castles similar to old British and Scottish castles though.

Grasslands - I loved using the animals in this pack, and a few of them made their way into other zoos that I’ve made after I made my obligatory pack-centered zoo.

Tropical - The scenery building style took me a while to accurately copy, but I managed. I’ve also only used each animal once due to the pack being new.

Arid - I’ve only used the animals in this pack at least once due to it being so new.

Oceania - I’m working on an Oceania zoo right now, using the animals and building pieces. It took me a good while to get the building style figured out.

There is something from each Dlc that I use a lot and I can't imagine playing the game without any of the Dlcs now.

Deluxe: (Komodo dragon)
Arctic: the wood wall set (reindeer)
South America: bamboo, roofs and foliage (anteater)
Australia: wood and corrugated iron sets, foliage, signs (kangaroo and koala)
Aquatic: painted wood, false rocks (terrapin)
South East Asia: while nothing is truly essential to me, I have used all the animals of the pack
Africa: foliage and enrichment items (meerkats and fenec fox, but also rhino and penguin)
North America: enrichment items (prairie dogs)
Europe: the rustic stone set, the Mediterranean foliage (the lynx and salamander)
Wetlands: (capybara)
Conservation: foliage (the horse and axolotl)
Twilight: stone set and roof set (racoon)
Grasslands: foliage (wallabies and emu)
Tropical: (gibbons)
Arid: (porcupine)
Oceania: foliage (Tasmanian devil)

  • Deluxe (used Thomson's Gazelle)

  • Aquatic (none)
  • SE Asia (Dhole, Binturong, Babirusa)
  • Africa (Fennec)
  • North America (Arctic Fox, Prairie Dog, Cougar)
  • Europe (Fallow Deer, European Badger)
  • Wetlands (Nile Lechwe, Red-crowned Crane)
  • Conservation (none)
  • Twilight (Red Fox)

  • Oceania (Flying Fox)
As far as themes go I have used those from Africa, Arctic, Oceania and South America.
Looking at this, I know I want to play so much more! Like the Conservation Pack is one of my favorites and I haven't hardly used it at all. :(

  1. Deluxe DLC (5/10): I use the Thomson's gazelle in most of my Safari zones. I also use the pygmy hippo occasionally. I rarely use the Komodo dragon.
  2. Arctic DLC (6/10): I use the arctic wolf all of the time, but I barely use the other animals. I almost never use the architecture. I really liked the scenarios. I'd use the polar bears more often if they were cheaper and easier to keep. The high interbirth period and low lifespan of the caribou makes it an annoying animal to keep.
  3. South America Pack (10/10): I'm always trying to put black jaguars in my zoos and a colorful assortment of llamas. I also use anteaters a fair bit and the capuchins a lot. The bamboo pieces are useful and I like putting the ruin blueprints in my jungle habitats.
  4. Australia pack (8/10): I use cassowaries all of the time and kangaroos and koalas a fair bit. The rusted pieces are kind of nice.
  5. Aquatic pack (2/10): Aside from the rocks, I would probably not notice if these animals and the other scenery were deleted from my game. I almost never use them.
  6. Southeast Asia Animal Pack (2/10): I use the binturongs sometimes, but rarely use many of these animals. There aren't many SEA animals in my local zoos.
  7. Africa Animal Pack (8/10): I adore the white rhinos. I place them in my zoos often. The others I use at least occasionally and the scenery is not bad.
  8. North America Animal Pack (10/10) I love moose. They're funny. Prairie dogs go in all of my zoos, and I love the mountain lions. They captured their stealthy, secretive vibe well. I get a fair amount of use from most of these animals.
  9. Europe Pack (6/10) I use the lynx and the fallow deer for filling those niches in my temperate, mostly NA zoo sections. The scenery is nice, but I don't use it often.
  10. Wetlands Animal Pack (4/10): I don't really like building semiaquatic habitats, so I tend to avoid these animals. I use the ASCO and the capys pretty often though.
  11. Conservation Pack (8/10): This is my go-to scenery set, and I use Przewalski horses frequently. I don't use the other animals as much, though.
  12. Twilight pack.(7/10): I use the skunk, wombats, and colorful foxes pretty often. This pack had nice stone walls. I really liked the scenario. The castle was fun!
  13. Grasslands Animal Pack (9/10): I like placing wallaby walkabouts. Emus are also pretty useful. Striped hyenas and caracals are useful. Armadillos are fun to build for. I'd use maned wolves more if they didn't need so much space.
  14. Tropical Pack (4/10): I use the red river hogs pretty often, and I want to start using the gibbons more. I was kind of annoyed when this pack came out for not having SA monkeys, and I didn't play with it for a while. I've barely used the scenery. Maybe this rating will change over time. I haven't really tried it, yet.
  15. Arid Animal Pack (9/10): I use the camels, sand cats, and the porcupines in almost every zoo and sometimes use the addax and donkey. They are all fun to build for and favorites. I loved the scenario with the pink "Barbie" house.
  16. Oceania animal pack (3/10): I like using kiwis sometimes. I haven't used the scenery or the other animals as much. Sometimes I use the quokka. Maybe this rating will change over time. It is new.

I just wanna start out by saying when I build in planet zoo I tend to build in the style of all (blank) zoos so if an animal is from a chosen category I will eventually use it if I finish the project there are definitely animals I havent built for yet since I always put them off till last and then scrap the project but I cant remember which ones. Also exhibit box animals are just vile I hate them all equally because they literally all feel the same to build for anything in a box is indistinguishable from each other so they will not be mentioned walkthroughs are the exception here. anything under 5 I likely wouldnt buy again. Displayed next to my rating of how much I use the pack is how many of the animals are from previous zoo tycoon games if its above 1 ill get the pack no matter how trash it is.

deluxe 10/10 animals on the list 3/3
I use the komodo dragon alot because its one of the handful of reptiles and is 1/3 non crocodilians also the model holds up pretty well when compared to say the nile monitor and I like using the pygmy hippo way more than the regular hippo as im more familiar with it and it works way better in smaller zoos. I have zero interest the Thompson's gazelle besides it being in zoo tycoon 2 I prefer it it over the springbok but I barely put much thought into building for either. It would be a 10/10 if it wasnt the same price as a full dlc though when I bought it on sale it was only $3 more than the base game alone.

Arctic 5/10 animals on the list 3/4
I hate the arctic wolf its just a white timber wolf they didnt ever bother to improve the textures much the timber even covers most of the arctic wolves range so it doesnt really even have its own niche when building. The polar bear on the other hand is almost worth the price on its own a good deep diving bear that has so much use for more coastal areas I love it. The dall sheep is meh the fact that it is a sheep is boring but I really like building mountain habitats I love rock work so basically till the ibex was out I liked to use it. Reindeer is meh I like the concept but I just find ungulates boring to work with but when I want a cold biome ungulate I love working with it. What sells the pack is the scenery I LOVE the wood its in my top 3 wood sets alongside the east asia and australia sets I just find it really good as a bordering material and the door that came with the pack was a reasonable size.

South america 4/10 animals on the list 4/5
Unpopular opinion but I basically avoid using the animals from this pack one because I hate the tropical biome and 2 I just find them boring to work with everytime I think if this pack I forget one of the animals in it they are all unique except maybe the jaguar but the llama is too much of a domestic animal for me and is an ungulate so I dont really use it. Also unpopular but monkeys give me the creeps capuchin is no except i will always use the lemurs over the capuchin if I can since lemurs are both more familiar to me and also dont creep me out as bad. The anteater is good but I never really feel inspired to build for it. The jaguar is just another tropical cat I do like building for cats this one just often slips past my radar in favour of a leopard or bengal tiger. The scenery is really niche and I ironically never use it in south american sections only really in south east asian inspired temple ruins with the exception of the fire because its like the only open flame.

Australia 10/10 animals on the list 2/5
the only reason its not a 10 is I cannot fathom the animal picks here why the cassowary over the emu and the dingo is barely Australian they are good animals but why just why. The kangaroo and koala are great additions and are valuable parts of any Australian section which I build alot of the kangaroo and koala alone are worth the price for me since they are so complex. This pack has some of my favourite scenery sets the wood is perfect and the corrugated iron is so useful alot of it is a bit too themed which stops the australia scenery from being my favourite since its not as versitle as say conservation.

Aquatic 2/10 animals on the list 0/5
hot take but I hated every one of the animals in this pack except maybe the caiman. The giant otter is just creepy the grey seal is boring sealions in my opinion are much better and the king penguin should of been the emperor and I will never not be salty that it took the emperors place. I will likely never use the otter it has literally been the end of multiple of my zoos but seal has its place as a cold temperate coastal animals so I often place it similar places to the polar bear. The king penguin is good as the only Antarctician animal and as the only cold penguin its a classic still wish it was the emperor instead or realistically a different penguin entirely penguin which maybe would help with one of the major issues of the pack that it feels very random in animal picks. The caiman was good as a very distinct looking crocodilian but it sort of feels flat when we have so many crocodilians. The scenery and history are the only reason the pack isnt a 0 at the time of its release these animals were incredibly unique and useful and for those who can only get one pack this is a solid one for the diversity in aquatic life. Also the rocks are good but not as incredible as everyone makes it out to be the fencing is good and I use it constantly same with the small spotlights but that is basically all I use.

South east asia 8/10 animals on the list 4/8
This pack has the disadvantage of being only tropical animals so when looking at the roster my eyes just sort of glaze over because I just find rainforests boring however the roster is really good except the babirusa which like all suides I will never build for unless required by the theme. Clouded leopard moon gravity aside makes a great arboreal cat in comparison to the mainly large ground cats. I love the binturong its such an iconic zoo animal for me and is fun to build for. Dholes were one of the first animals I built for when I first got back into the game and it always stands out to me for that reason its also a different looking canid. proboscis monkey is meh its creepy like all monkeys so I dont build for it but I think it was a cool addition. Sun bears are the only bears at any zoo near me and I just think they look cool and are fun to build for when I do. The malayan tapir is just the bairds tapir again so I use it about just as much.

Africa 10/10 animals on the list 3/5
the fennec fox is my favourite animal and the meerkat is my second so this pack is very biased. It also focused on my favourite biome which is scrublands and desert also sandy yellow is my favourite colour and I love building small habitats so I use the fennec fox and meerkat alot. The penguin however does not appeal to me though I use it more than the king. The rhino was an absolutely necessary addition and I use it way more than the indian rhino which I can only remember building for once. The plaster pieces were really good but that was literally the only good part of the scenery set and base game already has very similar stuff. Overall every time I think about this pack it feels small even compared to other scenery packs.

north america 8/10 animals on the list 4/8
a great pack filled with lots of animals that I frequently use like the prarie dog and arctic fox it has the better seal the californian seal lion and is basically required to make any reasonable north american area the cougar is meh because its another big cat it doesthe benefit of being across a huge biome range so build are interesting to build for. The arctic fox is more niche than the red fox but I will build for both. The beaver is good very fun to build for. The moose is one of the few ungulates that I dont hate the existence and the alligator may as well not exist.

europe 5/10 animals on list 1/5
a reasonable roster I use the deer and ibex alot since the ibex is like the only ungulate that is fun to build for and the fallow deer is a great generic european deer. the badger is fun and like all the small mammals I use it alot the lynx is meh it should of been the iberian. The build pieces are good the gondola hat mooring beams and hinges seem to make their way into all my zoos and the stone is pretty good.

wetlands 0/10 animals on the list 3/10
I will never understand how people like this pack the only reason I got it was for the platypus thats it I could care less about a water cow, another caiman, another antelope and a big rat. The otter and crane were good additions that I do sometimes use but they are ultimately meh to me. It could also be I hate wetlands as a concept as much if not more than tropical.

conservation 10/10 animals on the list 2/5
only for the scenery I use all the various tools and staff stuff constantly the wood slats are great and every single zoo i make uses conservation heavily it is by far my favourite pack even though besides the axolotl I dont have storng feeling to any of the animals. The horse is a horse the siamang is an ugly gibbon and the oryx has the unfortunate curse of being an ungulate. The amur leopard I think was the best way to add the leopard I use it quite a bit as its one of only a handful of temperate cats so makes a great addition to the feline roster the african leopard I probably wouldnt use at all since it is just another african savannah big cat.

twilight 10/10 animals on list 1/5
I love small things so this pack was great add some oceania representation and an exhibit animal with a semblance of personality and this is a great pack the only animal I wasnt 100% sold on was the fox but I use it more than I thought thanks to its wide range. The bat is inferior to the flying fox but when it was first added I used the bat alot. Also the roofing shingles is the best roof ingame hands down.

grasslands 10/10 animals on list 4/12
a pack dedicated to grasslands animals with continental and size variation a new major addition with the highest animal count to date sounds like a dream and it really is there isnt a single bad animal in this pack every animal I want to use constantly. They may all be grasslands animals but there is still a ton of varaition in exhibit designs between the animal and it adds the one and only exhibit tundra animal. This pack has the perfect animal roster but it is still second place in terms of packs I use the most.

tropical 4/10 animals on the list 2/5
Tropical animals are boring pigs are even more boring. The asian water monitor is a good replacement for the nile monitor but it is just that its not unique. The lar gibbon is a gibbon I will actually use im just salty its not the type I wanted. The sloth is alright could care less about the species being uncommon in captivity and I actually like the setup in its cage. The fossa is cool used it once have no strong desire to use it again its kinda meh. The scenery is good but blends together with the oceania and the base game south asia sets the door handles though those are top tier.

arid 5/10 animals on the list 3/8
I hate the name of this pack with a passion it should of been called north africa I would of excepted desert even since thats at least an ingame tag which now probably will never get a pack. I also hate how many ungulates it has and the sand cat looks too much like a domestic cat for me to take it seriously as a zoo animal. The only animals I actually like from this pack are the porcupine and the snake so thats saying something. I will say that all the animals are really well made and beautiful and are actually useful they are all just boring filler animals though I will use them but they will never be headliners.

oceania 8/10 animals on the list 1/5
a pack full of small oceanic animals with 2 birds sounds perfect except its very niche so I wont use the animals in every zoo I build no matter how much I love each of them or the fact that the little penguin and tasmanian devil take up so much space of my childhood zoo memories. I will use the flying fox will be used more than the fruit bat though since flying foxes just fit better outside of nocturnal houses. The pieces that came with the pack are incredibly useful and are likely to make it into most of my zoos the driftwood stuff especially.
