How will "classic" skins work?

Given that weve seen the JP3 Pteranodons and LW Raptors in the preorder trailer, we will likely get many more classic movie skins. But they both used the exact colors from the movie, which none of the other JWE dinosaurs have so far. When the dinosaur customization features were announced, it was made to sound like at least some dinosaurs would have alternate patterns to choose from. Which would have left us with 3 primary dinosaur customization options. Base color, pattern type, and pattern color. My hope was that through these options, we could recreate to some degree many of the franchise's past dinosaurs. While I would understand not giving EVERY dinosaur lots of different patterns, I would have thought that at least some would get alternate patterns. Many dinosaurs in the original game had one or two extra patterns, so I dont see why some couldnt get any in this game.

The confirmation that each dinosaur only gets one pattern worries me. It makes it sound like legacy skins wont be a part of this new system, but adjacent. Only as specific skins, without the customization options of the more basic kind of dinosaur. I think they should be one in the same. Almost like a cool community project to figure out what is needed to best make dinosaurs look like dinos weve seen before. Frontier could still have the "classic" skins as unlockables in Chaos Theory and Challenge Modes, but it would allow us better control over our dinosaurs, and more fun.

Lets use the LW Buck rex as an example. To recreate the Buck, you would need:
  • Base color: green
  • Pattern: striped
  • Pattern color: black/dark green
Now, the base Rex seems to have a pattern similar to the Buck, from what I can tell, it isnt the exact same, but its forgivable.

Lets use another example Baryonyx. While I doubt that the Bary would get an alternate model that looks like the JW website version, it would still be awesome to make something that looks kinda like it, at least color-wise
  • Base color: tan/brown
  • Pattern: eye border
  • Pattern color: light blue
This idea could be done with many different species. I really hope that legacy skins arent a one and done thing. It would really be a reversion, and it would be much more fun to be able to tie them in with the new system so we could create a ton of different things. Like maybe a green JP3 raptor, or the original blue JP Triceratops animatronic. Give the alternate models the same customization as the base dinosaur

Talking about Evolution 2's skins and colors, they finally confirmed what the system is and it's one pattern per dinosaur with the option to toggle it on and off, and several colors for the base skin and several for the pattern. Not quite what we were led to believe, but it's still a good amount of combination variety. As for the original Evolution 1 skins, the Raptor Squad skins, and the RtJP skins, they'll very likely be the same as they were in the first game, just pick them and make the dino, with no color changing.

I'd say taking up a base colour slot and disabling the pattern is most likely. With the recent reveal of a single pattern per species, we know it isn't the other way around.

There's a chance that the skin gets deconstructed into base and pattern colour genes, but that seems like a lot more work,

Yeah, the point of my post is that with that new confirmation, it really seems like it wont be case, which is disappointing. It would be much better if some dinosaurs had alternate models that you can pick specific color combinations for

I mean, SOME of them could (ankylosaurus, trike).
But honestly at this point I just want confirmation they all exist.
The issue also was that some of them came with actual model edits, rather than just retextures.

Looking at the Tiger raptor from the website gallery, it looks to be the same RtJP model, a more curvy and slender jaw than the normal JWE model.
