How will Premium Beta be installed.

I upgraded to Premium Beta and have been flying the dogfighting scenarios and I was wondering what happens on Friday.

Do we get the client that I am running updated or does this one need uninstalling and a whole new premium beta one needs to be downloaded from the website and installed from scratch?

I think from scratch. We are entering a new phase. And more, the premium beta will continue to be sold some time, to people who have not known the alpha 1.1

Will we still have access to the single player scenarios? Speaking for myself I would rather have some more practice before I am unleashed on the multiplayer community because my piloting skills are poor to say the least.

I'd be very surprised if the scenarios disappeared now, they are a valuable introduction for newcomers to the game.

Mission progress will probably be reset though, judging by previous releases. The first time it happened I was slightly dismayed, as it took me quite some effort to unlock them all the first time around

When you click Log in on the Alpha 1.1. client, you'll get an "Update" option. That'll install PB1.

Already mentioned on several other threads, but the single player scenarios remain in Alpha 4.03 so I'd imagine they'll be in PB1 (not that anyone in Alpha plays them any more).

I have a kid and a wife and I have to plan my friday carefully. Which time on friday (CET) can I expect to download and install the client?

When I start the game will there be thousands of ship at Lave which make it's almost impossible to play?

Most likely your bindings will go, sorry. I suggest you take a note of them (screenshots work) to be on the safeside. Also you're going to get some new ones - landing gear, hyperdrive etc. so you may need to rethink a few anyway.

No idea on timing, it's been fairly random so far. I think 4.00 dropped early evening IIRC.

We don't know where we'll start yet. Alpha 4 was in a small sector of a few planets, it might be the same. I can't see FD giving Lave away until the gamma at the earliest.
Due to instancing you won't see thousands of commanders, you'll be in a little parallel universe with a handful of them.

Not sure about the keyboard/joystick setup. I seem to remember that settings were lost during Alpha stages but that may have been fixed later. Assume it's still broken though and make a note of your settings.

We won't know when PB will be released until it's released. Alpha 4 arrived quite late in the day on it's release date.

Initially, PB will almost certainly be in the same 6x6x6 light year cube that Alpha 4 is played in. Lave is not part of that part of space.
Also, "instancing" will mean that a maximum of 32 other players occupy the same area.
