How will rank effect Crafting in 2.1?

I believe that somewhere it was said that your faction rank, will effect crafting. I imagine this will work through a progressive increase. For example increasing shield generator capacity by 5% starting at the lowest rank all the way up to maybe a 25% increase for King/Admiral.

My question is, if anyone has heard, if Elite ranks will also effect crafting? For example a higher trade rank, might allow for better cargo rack upgrades? Or a higher Explorer rank allows for better FSD upgrades? Is there any info on this?

Edit:
I think I figured it out and maybe answered my own question. It would make sense that the higher your standing with the faction that the engineer is allied with, the more they would want to/be allowed to help you. Also the higher the standing you have with the engineers themselves (i.e. they like you because you do things for them) the more they will be willing to help.

Your "elite rank" however, should have no impact on this at all, as why would an engineer care how many systems you have traveled to or how much cargo you have delivered. Who would care on the other hand are the mission givers. They want to see that you have experience in that particular field and therefore are willing to give you more difficult missions that pay more. So I think elite rank will continue to only be tied in with the mission system.

I don't know if any information has been released yet but IMO expect a mix of reputation (with the Engineers likely, not the major factions) / rating and a shed load of credits.

I doubt it will affect what you can do directly, more likely engineers and people who craft stuff simply won't talk to you until you reach the require rank.

The only people that know won't tell us yet. Wait and see.

Is my impatience showing a bit? [big grin]

Just wanted to see if there was maybe a post I missed and maybe there was actual info on this. I know info + Elite does not add up well. They are secretive, sneaky little buggers.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that different engineers will be "impressed" by different things... some will be impressed by high Combat rank, others by high Exploration rank, and so forth. Some might be impressed by high military rank in both Empire and Federation.

It's also my understanding that some Engineers will be locked away inside the permit-locked systems, so you can't physically visit them until and unless you've got a certain rank and/or allied faction status you need to get the permit.

Which is interesting, because if what's been said is true, missions will no longer be hidden behind "rank walls" for combat or trading I.e. Requires minimum of Deadly combat rank... Etc.

Can't remember precisely, but I do believe I've read Ranks will be amongst some Engineer's requirements.

It was in one of the earliest Details posted about Engineer's (possibly a Dev Update).

(back then I wondered what would happen if folks i.e. that don't play CQC find out that their favorite Upgrade Engineer prefers a high CQC Rank ;) )

Sudden increase in CQC player numbers and cqc MM crashing every night. After couple week of busy grinding back to current state.
