How work planet coordinates?

Can some good soul explain to me how works coordinates on planet? I'm quite sure that on this forum was somewhere thread dedicated to this (detailed explanation), but I can't found it. If you have this thread link, pls post it here.

You could, but some (possibly ex)employee switched the compass in the 2.1 update, so it's (what you did with a screwdriver) until they fix it back again. Should work exactly the same as terrestrial coordinates: Latitude and Longitude - 0 to 90 heading north, 0 to -90 south. 0 to 180 heading east, 0 to -180 west.

It's not the best system, but you can make it work, I hope that FD will actually make a system where you can plot in the coordinates, and then just follow the radar.
