How would you change my FDL build?

So, I have just switched from a Vulture to an FDL and even though its not proportionally more powerful moneywise, I really like it. I only wished they had centred the cockpit or made the pilot sit on the left side (I guess that's the english ship then...)

I really like the weapons loadout even though its quite some work to chew through larger ships. Small ships just melt away...
Do you have any recommendations on how to improve that? Make it more versatile?

-Gimbal Cannon is worth having if you want to train yourself. If you get close enough it actually fire upwards a bit now. The four pulses are way more than enough for smaller ships.

Here's the easiest option.

Pulse Laser and Cannon build. Note the fourth Shield Booster.

If you need more firepower for lasers, replace the top two hardpoints with Burst (or Beam, but watch out the heat!) Lasers and make the last shield booster a D grade one (so 3 A's and a D). I strongly recommend replacing one of the shield cell banks in favor for a class 4 fuel scoop when doing long distance travel, but dual SCBs are favorable when staying in a system for a while.
 
I tried a cannon build once, but it was so extremely frustrating since the hardpoint placement is just ridiculous. Every time I wanted to get a shot off, the cannon did not fire since I like to follow my targets "upwards". I guess I can try it again since it really takes a while to fight down a Conda in a CZ with just the pulses...
 
I like plasma accelerators... and I'd find a way to incorporate a huge one regardless of how impractical.

I don't think I'm the one to listen to here xD
