How would you resolve the first zoo?

I haven’t seen that many streams yet but I have been thinking on what would be the best way to resolve the zoo so, without pausing the game, here’s some of the things I would do:

So starting off I would use the anti-conception on every pair so they can’t reproduce, at least not untill the zoo is in order.

Hippos are death so I would leave them for last.

Go around every exhibition and make sure the ground, plants, temperature, ... is in order for the animal. Probably starting with the bears, wolves, lions, snow leopard and leave the peafowls, tortoises, zebra’s, giraffes and elephants,... as last.

Restart the hippo exhibit, have a keepers hut installed, give it electricity, maybe have a veterinary place nearby.

Slowly start having the animals breed again, one exhibit at a time and see if I could handle it.

Start working on the exhibits that are unfinished.

Enjoy the zoo, make some entirely new exhibits maybe, check up on my staff,...

Curious to see if I missed something and what some other ways to fix it are.

My first thing would be making sure all staff facilities are in close proximity to all exhibits so placing a bunch of new ones (because the most common issue I've seen is starvation). I guess the Hippos actually don't die quickly for everyone which is interesting.

The second thing I would do is build larger exhibits because the wolves will continue to fight until the other is dead due to lack of space.

After that I would then attend to specific environmental needs for each animal.

Like I said I haven’t seen much streams, but aren’t there only 2 wolves in the beginning? Is the exhibit still too small for them then? If so then yeah making the exhibit bigger is important, if not then hopefully not breeding them should keep them happy for a while.

Sadly however, it seems the build that the streamers are playing is randomized, since each stream is different. For example, Rudi's stream earlier today. On his stream, none of the bears escaped until the end, and none of the hippos died. Instead, the zebras died, and the giraffes escaped. The protesters kept protesting the exhibit animals. Not to mention, theres more than two wolves in one exhibit, and I don't even think size is the problem, its just there's simply too many of them for one exhibit. Not to mention, in the finished version of the game, this zoo is a tutorial level, and isn't as broken as it is in the demo they've shown.

There are 8 wolves to start with! haha And like Voids Light said there really are too many, but I'm not sure if in this starting scenario you can release them or not? If not then I would either build a bigger exhibit or build an additional one and split the pack up.

I'd start by checking how much staff I have. I think a lot of the issues were stemming from the fact that there weren't enough keepers, vets, and maintenance workers (or whatever PZ is calling them). After that, I'd make sure all the necessary staff buildings, particularly food prep stations, are near enough to the exhibits (and that there's enough of them) and then I'd make sure they had power and were operational. As for the animals themselves, I think I'd tackle the wolves first because, as you mentioned @Greekgods, the hippos are dead no matter what you do, and the wolves seem to be in danger of killing the entire pack off if left alone for too long. Their most pressing issue seems to be overcrowding, whereas most of the other animals seem to just need more toys, better terrain, or more of their own kind. I'm not sure exactly how I would fix the wolf exhibit, as I don't know what my options are. As @KitCat said, we might not be able to release/sell them, and it didn't look like there was room for expanding the existing exhibit, so I'd just make a second one and split the pack up as evenly as I could. Hopefully, by then all the animals have been fed and I can focus on fixing the problems with the rest of the exhibits. Lastly, I would check the guests and make sure they have everything they need.

I just saw a stream and you can move the wolves to the trade center and probably from there release them into the wild or sell it off. That person moved a wolf into it but he didn’t do anything else with it.

I would probably handle it like bestinslot did, where I would focus on the needs of the animals before doing anything else. Also, the one wolf that always fights the other probably has a tendency to start fights as a part of its personality.

Yeah I’m in the middle of watching him. He’s doing a pretty good job up until now (though I did catch a bit of the end and he mentioned there was a lot of death so I’m expecting it to turn around)

One of the ones yesterday. I really don't want to have some of the posts removed from this thread.

Phew. really, even that would get you in trouble these days? Meh.

I feel like the trumendous feeding problems in the park are because the feeding prep stations are way too far away mostly. So that would be something I'd focus on, while pausing the game. Work on all habitat problems. Check for injured animals. Build a new wolve enclosure fast and let them move over.
