Ships Hows this build looking?

Hey all

I've e been playing about with ideas for a T9 build, wanted to get some feedback.
I'm thinking of like some sort of survivable miner-trader build - now I know, there's other ships that may be better for that, cheaper etc, but I just wanna role in a T9 for some stuff - I already have a reasonable build on a Python that I used as an armed Trader-Hunter type ship. Just also love the look of a T9.

My main point of confusion is the mining kit, I only tried mining once, briefly... In a keelback. So I don't know if the mining kit I've been considering is up to par or needs altering.

So far i am coming up with this - of course I'd engineer it more but you get the basic concept (assuming this link works)

From my own mining experience you want at least 4 collector limpets for each class 2 mining laser so i'd suggest fitting 2 x 3A collectors as well as the 5A for a total of 7 I'd prefer 8 or 9 but you don't have the internals to spare.

As mining lasers are beams they can drain a PD cap fairly quickly so fit a 6A and engineer it the same applies to power as everything has to be powered up for mining so you generally need a bigger plant than in cargo ship.

I'd fit more shield boosters as chaff is more useful in combat with a T9 you need the shields to hold long enough to clear the rings mass lock, mod a 6A power plant with G1 low emissions and you could lose the heatsink for a shield booster.

Mines can be very effective but I think they work best as long as your ship is faster than the attacking one so I'd go for pulse turrets to distract pursuers.

That looks pretty good.
I assume I DO want a prospector limpet?

Also with the fighter, if i launch it with crew piloting while i run away, if i jump out and the fighter gets destroyed do i loose the crew member or does he just spawn back in the ship (like when i get destroyed in an SRV)?

If you want to mine efficiently/profitably an A class prospector is essential, with an A class you get 40 + frags per roid around 12 with no prospector.

The crew is in the mothership flying the fighter remotely (combat drone would probably be a better name TBH) so they're fine if you leave the fighter but will "die" if your ship buys it, bit unfair on them I reckon.

That's s brilliant thanks for the info.
So really if i had say... A keelback or whatever just to mine those "industry needs x units of x", you could get by ok without the prospector, but to actually make it a living the limpet really earns its keep

In the olden days you didn't have fancy limpets for everything! ;), so yes you can go mining with just a mining laser and scoop the frags manually it works but it'll take a while so even a few tons of ore can be a chore!

Use https://eddb.io/body to find pristine metallic rings near your current location and you really don't want to mine at a RES as you'll be continually attacked by pirates, so either drop into one and move about 30km away from it or drop into rings at a random location and mine away
