If I understand the physics correctly, we can't have an aspheric lens in a headset that size. Our eyeballs would be mashed by the curvature and they would be very heavy. The great thing about fresnel lenses is that they approximate the curvature we need for the panel coverage whilst being much thinner and lighter but they're still not ideal. Part of the reason the XTAL has such fantastic panel coverage is that they made 'Gigantor' headsets so the aspheric curvature could be much more shallow. I don't think this appeals to HP which is strange because they have no problem making computers to wear on my back - weirdos....I honestly hope they do... There were a lot of things I liked about the reverb, but some glaringly obvious flaws unfortunately... Personally, if they simply dropped the fresnel lens in favour of a clear lens ( aspheric ) , provided a bit more FOV, say 125 - 135 deg and included a manual IPD adjustment, then they would have a best seller... Tracking is the next issue, but I understand why they chose inside out...
