HUD Color change, sorry, pc only.

The last couple of weeks, I've been experimenting with the HUD colors. I've tried over 30 of the suggestions I found via the internet. All of which though changed the HUD, dramatically altered some of the colors I didn't want changed.
The default is 1,0,0 / 0,1,0 / 0,0,1
My results are .50,0,0 / 0,1,0 / 0,0,1
By changing the first and only the first from a "1" to a ".50" allows for redder reds, greener greens, bluer blues and though there is still a orange, it's almost a gold.

Got nothing to loose but a few minutes of time, try it and let me know what ya think.

How about a screenshot? That would save us even more time. Maybe people that like to tinker with that, can give us screen shots and the settings used to get the colors shown in the screen shots.

Considering my internet speeds, up and downloading images take about an hour each. Doing all the various changes, the star port Services was great, but I had issues when out and about with the colors not meeting my expectation. Thus one can have a nice inside the station, but outside sucked. I spend most of my time outside. Thus with this color arrangement only the inside is a bit if'y.

When your out and about flying and getting things done is where these HUD color's are at there best. One can't help but notice that the Blues are a bit bluer, the Green's are a bit greener and the Red's are Redder. The only issue I had while in my ship doing ship stuff, was the red text which is only occasional. I readjusted the gamma to the right so it's now about two thirds and the red text is no longer an issue.

Providing one knows how to do it, it only takes one to three minutes to try it. But if one doesn't like it, it will take an additional one to three to reset back to whatever one had. Thus a whopping two to six minutes of time.

I didn't really have an issue with the orange, but after three years, six or more hours a day, every day; It got old, heard about the pc's ability and experimented for two weeks. Finally came up with something extremely close to the original. The orange isn't entirely gone, it's more of a gold than an orange. Considerably softer on ones eyes or in my case, eye.

The search facility on these forums is p@nts so here is the thread with all you need to know, screenshots and all:

BTW: This is what I use: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-configs-please-add-yours.259311/post-4059335

There is a "Profiler" for E D which contains a section for HUD colours:

Here is a web page set up for you to experiment with (I think it still works):

Thanks Para, I found and utilized them all while attempting to change my hud. For the most part, one can't change too much without effecting the other's. It's the other's that changed I didn't like. Thus I settled on something close to the Fdev original.

Yes it can be problematic - I can never understand why people want blue or green HUDs as it really mucks up many of the displayed items. For that reason I use a scheme which tones-down the neon-orange to a more coffee-coloured appearance. (Hence the scheme is called Mocha. ;) ) The trick is to keep the radar icons easily differentiated, reduce garishness, enhance readability of text and keep portraits looking sensible. So for anyone interested here is the matrix I use and some screenshots showing the displays:

Mocha matrix:

<MatrixRed> 0.7, 0.08, -0.08 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 1 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.15, -0.15, 1 </MatrixBlue>

P.S. I didn't "create" this matrix it was posted back in 2014 by a commander who's name I forget and the links to which no longer work since the forum move.
