HUD Colours - console users

The HUD color isn't simply the hud you see in the cockpit, it's deeper than that. PC users have to edit game files to do that, much harder to do on a console, there is no easy slider to do it ingame ATM.
When you edit these parameters, it changes more than you think. You might have noticed that it also modifies the NPC portraits... that's a good exemple.

Knowing Frontier, they will probably take advantage of this to turn HUD color in a paid content, just like weapons/engine colors.

I wouldn't mind if I had to pay for it, like I paid for weapon colour change. I don't any console user would mind paying for it. I'm surprised it's not already available in the storefront.

I don't think it should be a paid cosmetic, because it's actually a necessary colorblind mode that the game should have had for a while now.

Funny that, I'm red green colour blind, never had a problem with it...

But as others have said, it's not supported and involves hacking a file or having another program do it for you. It's not as simple as adding options given how much it affects the rest of the UI.

Okay. You don't speak for all types of colorblind. My information is based off forum threads from people who are legitimately affected. The frequency with which it's brought up suggests that contrary to your experience, it is actually a problem.

Red/Green colorblind may be the most common form but it is far from the only form of colorblindness.

As for color options on console, or even on PC without the need for file editing, it should be really easy to implement in it's current form. All it needs is an in-game menu option that will allow the updating of the relevant file and then reloading the file to force the new values, it's basically the same way all the other game setting/keybinds work. I think the main reason it's not been implemented is this, there are a lot of color setting combinations that you can load into the current system that makes the UI either utterly useless, or just horrific to look at. FDev wouldn't want it to be possible to essentially "break" the UI via an ingame menu, maybe we'll get a list of UI color settings that we can select from? I mean there's already a good list of decent setting available here on the forums.

Ideally it'd be nice to be able to choose specific colors for individual UI elements but I imagine that would require some redesign of how the UI currently works.

This gets raised every few weeks on the forums OP. I think the majority of the community wants the ability to change HUD colors, even if it's through a paid system, however FDev have, for whatever reason, decided not to develop the feature.

That may change in future, but for now, if you want to be able to change your HUD, you have to be on PC (and as mentioned, it's not a feature FDev exclusively gave to PC. We mod game files to allow it. It also comes at a cost of messing up some in-game functions).
