Watching VR gameplay videos of ED I noticed that the HUD has a 3D like effect to it. What I mean is that the dashboard, the crosshair, the crosshair-brackets and the comms/info tabs kind of shift separately as if they were projections in a 3D space.
Using a monitor I noticed this effect is lacking, or not very prominent. I think it would be cool if you had the same effect for Elite when you fly around and the view moves a bit around (due to the g-forces) and you'd see this sort of HUD elements misalignment going on.
With the free head look there also should be a slight misalignment going on, so if you look to the left the dashboard stays in place, the brackets move slight to the left, because they're projected further in the front and the comms/info tabs shift more to the right, because they're projected further behind the brackets and the dashboard. At least this is how it looks in the VR videos. The crosshair would always stay on target, because like a holographic sight, which exist today already, the reticle is projected into infinity and never misaligns, unless you don't actually put it on target.
This effect could be optional, so if it adds motion sickness for some players, they could remove it.
Interesting is that VR videos recorded to be viewed on a monitor properly do have this effect to some extent, so why not just make it a non VR feature as well? ED on a monitor kind of lacks this holographic projection in a 3D space feel.
