Hudson mission question.

So I am in TE UIRA at the military strike beacon and was destroying some ships. I have noticed that I don't get any credits for destroying any ship, instead I get these yellow bonds in my reward window.
After I ran out of ammo, I docked at a local station to refuel and relaod plus to hand in these rewards. I am confused, nothing to hand it, neither in the power contract nor in the combat reward center.

Now I have x16 of these and don't know what to do with them.

Can I make credits out of them? Do I get rank progression in my power? And furthermore, WHERE do I have to hand them in or will they be converted into some kind of reward after the weekly power cycle?

you get 1000 for each of these merits if brought to a system controlled by your faction and given to your powers contact under cotacts.
we all know thats not much, but if you rank up with your power you get bette benefits each cycle. check your power menu for details

I need 1500 merits to get to a rank that gives a mentionable amount of credits. 1000 cr per week is not even much for a beginner sidey, not even for someone without a ship at all.
Basically everything below rank 4 is not significant.

Is this meant to be like that? The price - reward balance is clearly not even, feels like a 89° wall.
