I'm rehashing an old subject a bit, but I've had some new thoughts. I really wish there was huge AX weapons already. I am not mainly concerned about making things easier, though huge weapons should be powerful. I'm more for variety and making large ships more relevant. If them ending up over powered is a concern, make them use 2 AX weapon picks. I actually like that idea because it would profile them for the large ships even more. FDL and Mamba, having little room for a stabiliser, would need some real tradeoffs to mount them. Here's the ideas for individual weapons:
AX Multi-Cannon: An obvious choice, though I think it's pretty boring. Would probably have a lot of fans even if it didn't have the enhanced version shot speed. Should probably have gimballed version regardless.
AX Cannon: Let's say Liz Ryder and Zachariah Nemo tried to come up with the weapon that matches Gauss armour penetration without being Guardian tech, so it can be used in maelstrom systems. They devise plans for a special high velocity huge cannon with armour piercing shells. Should have AP of at least 120 (but grade 5 sturdy goes to 144, just sayin') and shot speed matching the enhanced multi-cannons, maybe earlier falloff start than regular cannon for balance reasons, but otherwise stats as fixed huge cannon.
As a side note, the same pair could also come with enhanced small AX Cannon (fixed, gimballed and turret). The story being that they were trying to shrink eAXMC to small hardpoint size, but couldn't fit enough payload to small calibre MC shells to make them AX, so they circumvented the problem by making it cannon instead.
Plasma Charger: Definitely not Azimuth modified, because that would be crazy OP. Regular PCs are somewhat useless because of deficient effective range and not good enough armour piercing value. Some people also find them too hard to hit with because of the shot speed. However, I think the large fixed PC is almost worth it, or was before the modified variant came along. Huge variant might cross from "almost" to "actully" just through the natural progression of AP and damage. I would definitely like more falloff range too, though. Otherwise it'd be only a weapon for some FDLs and perhaps facetanking Corvettes. Regular PC and Shard as well could use more general improvements, but that's another discussion.
Something Completely Different: The mysterious Guardian radiation thing ended up being used as Salvation's Proteus Wave, but allow me to repeat my old Guardian beam weapon idea:

Huge, resembles Beam Laser, but has a charging mechanic. Hold down to charge and when released (or when distro runs out) it fires for a time relative to the time spent charging. Should definitely be gimballed to make this mechanic more bearable. Damage half AX, half thermal. Call it an anti-particle beam or pulsar or something like that. I recommend something like Freespace Beam Cannon visual effect for the charging.
