Oh man,
If you want to see a fantastically huge system, go visit HIP 63835.
It's already been explored, but it has 3 black holes and much more. (Any more would be spoilers). If you want an exploring money boost, this is a nice one.
Bring heat sinks, lots of heat sinks.
About a week ago, I was looking around for something to visit that wasn't too far out there. I came up this in the galaxy map. I had never seen a black hole, so a system with three seemed pretty neat. I also wanted to see if I could find a black hole without an ADS. (at least one is easily findable,I'll look for the other two another day).
I decided to take the long comprehensive route and did a most economical route of 38 jumps, taking time to scan planets along the way. (I have a basic scanner, so that meant searching first and then scanning). I made it there over several days of intermittent playing. I can't say I found every planet along the way. I definitely missed some, due sadly to time constraints even when I said I would take all the time I wanted but I cover a lot of ground, and after hearing x number of people say 'exploring is boring', I re-confirmed my belief that exploring is wonderful activity,
I had to not look for planets i knew where out there in order to make it to my destination in a week, so lack of content has never been a problem for me.
Navigation routed me to systems that were pretty much all Col 285 Sector blah blah blah (at least 30 of the 38 jumps were that).
. Col 285 systems seem to be almost uniformly unscoopable stars and ice planets. If you want to be in a place where no one else ever goes because there's nothing much there, this is the place (it would be funny if one of the asteroid belts had a huge deposit of panite or something)
The journey was good in giving me a review of planet/star hunting with a basic scanner. The destination system was a wonderful reward.
