Hull damage after submitting?

It happens to me frequently, it's almost reproduceable if I'm alt-tabbed out when the interdiction begins and I have to activate the game window again. No matter how fast I slam the throttle to zero and submit, their side of the mini-game bar flies up to full red and I get FSD failure and take damage.

I will have to test this as I always play in window mode, so it's possible that I was in another window when it happened.

I've had it happen to me a couple of times in the past few weeks, but always when the target has shot out of view. It takes a second or two for the submission to 'kick in', and if you don't stay pointing somewhere in the vicinity of the target crosshairs, you can lose the interdiction in that period and end up with damage. Could that be the case here?

I've always just throttled down and let go of the stick. Maybe I could try following, although it becomes increasingly difficult without throttle control.

I'm wondering if it the window issue.

It takes a few seconds to submit - so that people who are idling in supercruise don't instantly fail, they have a chance to throttle up if they don't intend to submit. Also it means that trying to escape has some penalty - you can't throttle to zero just before you lose the minigame and get the chance to boost and run.

If the enemy wins during the time you're in the process of submitting, you take damage as usual. Best thing to do is try to align with the escape vector like you were trying to escape, so the enemy doesn't get a lot of progress on you quickly.

I got interdicted today in my python, I submitted right away but still received 35k worth of hull damage. What made this even worse was the fact that the npc that did this was a green friendly federal navy eagle that just turned and flew off without doing anything.

I had so many different outcome to interdiction i totally think the damage model/mechanics is random - I wish FD would provide official statement as so far i only got players feedback.

For example i had few times where i submitted - hull shows 100% and yet when i dock i have both repair and wear&tear price to pay - in a Conda this is not cheap !! (and yes,i had no previous w&t nor damage.
ticket was opened....

Kinda disappointed even you can't get out of it.

Seems Navy ships are stopping players for a checkup - read elsewhere you should see a comm chat about their intention...
however they actually don't scan you - ticket was opened...

Happened to me tonight. Got interdicted, opened up with beams and multicannons, noticed that it was a system authority vessel. Oops.

This happened to me 2 days ago 3 times I suffered hull damage from an NPC cop once it was 6% and with a military hull it cost me a fortune.
Yesterday I was stopped a number of times with no hull damage.

I made a post about this a few weeks ago (also put a ticket in on 27 Jan, no reply yet). I had the same problem submitting but still getting damage at times. The advice I got was to submit by zeroing as I had been doing but also to follow the marker in the mini game. I now do this and do not get damage any more.
