Newcomer / Intro Hull Integrity Compromised

Has any one else got this message when using the docking computer "Hull Integrity Compromised". Every time I use the the docking computer I incur damage to my ship when I land, what am i doing wrong.

The docking computer is not perfect. Sometimes it will miss the pad and have to scoot about a bit until it finds it, bumping into things as it does so. Sometimes it will simply come down too hard for your shock absorbers to take the hit without damage.

I assume you're flying without shields. If you have shields, then the docking computer shouldn't do enough damage to completely take down your shields.

Yup. I call mine Auto Crashing Computer. The landings are in indeed often rough. Once I lost 5% hull integrity, often 1-2%. I don't remember if I had shields or not when that happened. Once it missed the gateway completely and kept slamming into the station's wall incurring 700CR in fines for loitering before it occurred to me to disable the module to stop it. The module was not damaged, it just really a cheap landing computer.

I noticed this only happens on stations with internal pads, not the ones where pads are outside the station.

Personally I have never used a docking computer and probably never will. If you practice docking enough in the training missions, it becomes second nature. It also frees up a module slot!
